Pflueger Medalist 1494 1/2 Fly Reel Made in Akron Model
Up for auction is a Pflueger 1494 1/2 Medalist fly reel. The reel is for lines 5 thru 7. The reel is a Made in Akron model with the plastic right hand wind only plastic drag plate. The letter B is stamped into the bottom of the reel foot. The reel is in very good condition and is ready to fish. It does have some paint loss. I did have to do a repair to this reel. The plunger and spring were stuck in their pocket and would not come out. I drilled thru the back of the pocket and pushed them out. The hole in the pocket was then filled with JB Weld and another spring and plunger were installed. The reel works as it's supposed to. Line and backing not included. Shipping to the lower 48 only by Priority mail.

Here is a Pflueger Medalist 1494 with the ring line guide. Metal spool cap, sculptured pillar, and riveted brass foot. This is an early circa 1938 patent pending model with the first Medalist adjustable drag system. The metal click plate only has two indents on the top side and 16 on the bottom. Note the exposed drag stem. This reel has been repainted in flat matte black, a decent job with very little overlap on the chromed metal parts. Marked"Diamolite Line Guard" and"Patent Pending" although hard to read through the paint. Reel cranks very smoothly with the 2/16 indent plate making a distinctive clicking sound.
