On the caliper there are scuffs/scratches, some gunk I was unable to remove, scratches on the dial case, dings/dents on the measurement bar, original owner engraving(please see photo provided) on the back of the caliper most of the information from the manufacture sticker has worn off& the original ... moreowner covered part of it with a name label as well, but those issues are cosmetic only& there are no functional issues that I am aware of. The case also has several stains/scuffs/scratches& the side label has almost completely worn off, but again the issues are cosmetic only& the case still completely protects the tools as it should. The covered rack helps prevent measurement error by protecting the gear from foreign matter. Linear accuracy meets Deutsches Institut für Normung(DIN) 862 standards. These calipers are for use in measuring inside dimensions(ID) outside dimensions(OD) depth and step. The caliper measures 0.100" per revolution of the dial.
