The open-face design of the slide allows both the inside and outside vernier scales to be indicated on the same side. Allowing both inside and outside measurements to be read without turning the tool over. The screw-type adjusting nut allows for fine measurement adjustments for accuracy, while the lock nut holds measurements for reading, repeating, or transferring the measurement. The tool steel construction makes the jaws harder and more wear-resistant than an equivalent stainless steel jaw. The bars are hardened and stabilized. The measuring surfaces are hardened, ground, and lapped, for a very hard, flat, and polished measuring surface that is considerably more accurate than a surface that has not had these operations performed. The graduations on the bar are machine-divided for accuracy. The master bar’s combination of straight and angular ways allow positive alignment of graduations, and easy adjustment of the flush-fitting verniers. And it looks in very nice condition for it's age. A very nice Starrett vernier caliper that will measure from 0 to 150 millimeters. There are some marks on the tool set where some dodo removed a name. But the only thing it hurts is the looks. This is the Starret 123M model. I purchased it not realizing it was metric and I wanted inch. I know, not too bright, right? Well, I would like to just get my money back and try again. Starrett 123 E&M 12 inch vernier caliper, 14 inch master bar
Starrett 123 E&M master vernier caliper with a 14 inch hardened and stabilized master bar. Please look closely before bidding. The locking screw on the fine adjust is missing. Adjusting screw and wheel are fine. The screw on the moveable head is here, but is bent some and will not lock. The bar is straight and the jaws are true. As you can see it is stained some and has markings, but everything can be fixed quite cheaply and you will have an 12 inch master caliper which sells new for about 750 or more.

You are bidding on a Starrett 123 Master Vernier Caliper. This Caliper reads from 0- 26.5" Caliper is in excellent condition. Clean. Shiny, and just in excellent consmetic condition. Was used gently and well taken care of. No tarnish or corrosion at all. Locking mechanisms both work great, as does the slow adjustment. Jaws slide open like it was brand new. There are some light cosmetic scratches indicative of normal use. The case is in good condition. Missing one latch, and it has#100 written on the bottom and on the back by the hinges(numbers are about 1/2" to 1" nothing major. Could probably be cleaned off with some elbow grease. NO ENGRAVINGS on the caliper itself. Just a very clean, well taken care of tool, ready to provide a lifetime of service. Lucky winner pays actual shipping. Thanks for looking and good luck!
