This megohmmeter is a fully functional meter that is used to test high resistances such as insulation resistance etc. The battery operated instrument measures to 100 meg ohms on the megohm range and 3 megohms on the kilohm range. Was tested with a 1 megohm resistor and the needle was right on scale in both ranges. Uses 4 AA batteries(included) which are installed. The meter dial illuminates during test to accommodate use in poorly lit areas. Test voltage is 500V in the megohm range and 20V in the kilohm range. Test probes are permanently attached and the unit is calibrated by plugging the probe into the calibration socket.

Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. I did not attempt to plug in and test. Cord is old and frayed. Knife switch does move up and down. Interior looks clean. Power wheel does turn by hand. This is a Westinghouse Type D2 Direct Current Street Railway Relay built in 1929 which was installed at the South Hills Junction Power Station of the Pittsburgh Railways Co. in 1930 until taken out of service in 1986. It was the main protective relay on the output side of the 2000 kW Rotary Converter No. 2 at South Hills Junction which powered the Mt Washington Tunnel. Parts of Downtown Pittsburgh and trolley routes(42/38, 44,47, 48, 49, 35, 36,37) The relay is glass enclosed, in mint condition and is the last known Westinghouse D2 relay from the Pittsburgh system in existance. It is Westinghouse Style 680315-B, serial No. 115640 with a 125 Volt DC stationary coil and a current shunt input up to 10 mV. The trip voltage is adjustable from 0-10 mV and is currently set for 5 mV. The current shunt used with this relay is rated at 3000 amps DC ... moreand is being sold separately on Ebay.
