And built with expert craftmanship. The outer box has been beat to heck, but is still completely solid. The original hardware with ingenious locking mechanisms are still present. The handle is not- made of cloth-wrapped wire! The paper is dated 1913, and the patent dates listed run from 1892 to 1898. Please take tim e to view the pictures- they are part of my description! My friends grandfather worked for Edison. he designed this item. It has a mahogany base and black metal parts. Looks in excellent condition. It is probably a one of a kind. Antique Electric Automotive Meters and Gauges - 3 Ammeters and 1 Fuel Gauge
I purchased these four meters with other electric meters at an auction. I am listing them together because they are all apparently for automotive use. These meters are described at follows: An electric fuel gauge. The glass is good and the meter needle is properly zeroed. There is no brand name visible. A ammeter with a 100-0-100 scale. It says"AC" at the bottom of the scale. But this must be a brand because this is almost certainly a meter for direct current. The glass is cracked. A nice Stewart-Warner ammeter with a 60-0-60 scale. The meter is in excellent condition. But the bracket is tarnished. A"Handy Charger" ammeter with a 15-0-15 scale. I think all of these are functional. But I cannot fully test them, so I am selling them"as is. MYSTERY METER - Antique Electric Test Meter for Automobiles - for Ford Cars?
This listing is for an antique electric meter that was apparently used for automotive testing sometime in the past. I bought this in a box of other meters at an auction and do not know how it was used. The meter is mounted in a box that is 5" wide. 4" tall, and 1.5" deep. The box has two wires coming out of the top, but neither is marked or color coded. There is no brand name or other identifying markings on this meter. It appears to have a d'Arsonval moving coil movement, and the needle zeros properly and moves freely, so I think it is probably in working condition. The markings on the scale are puzzling to me. Most of these are visible in the second photo. The main scale goes from zero to 220. There is a small scale above it that shows the numbers 7. 9, 11 13, 15, and 17. At the bottom of the scale are the notations BAD, ... moreEMPTY, and FULL. At the top of the scale, not visible in the photo, is the word FORD at 120 on the main scale, the word FORD again at 155, and the word Lincoln at 190 on the main scale. This suggests that the meter was used for working on Ford Motor Company Cars. I refer to this as my"mystery meter. but perhaps you know how it was used. If so, please share that information with me so that I can share it with other buyers. Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. I can not find a name or ID there is a serial number inscribed behind the clock mechanism. This meter has a cast iron base. Brass clock works, and a white tin meter face. This meter is heavy and it measures 8" tall 5" wide and 5" deep. I suspect there was a coin size brass plate on the face at one time, probably the meter's number.With a little clean up this meter will make a nice display piece for a Electrical business or doorbell for an electrician. Antique Electric Meter Duncan ? Cast Iron House / Home
You Are Bidding On An Antique Electric Meter. I believe this is an early Duncan but am not positive as it does not have a name on it. The only thing that is printed on it is on a tag inside the glass dome it reads" A 4,8 Testing Constant 750" There is part of a paper label on the back but it mostly unreadable. The glass dome can be removed it is only attached by two threaded stems that run through the front of the glass. This is a very heavy metal meter I believe it is made of cast iron. I do not see any chips or cracks to the glass dome, but the metal meter is in need of some restoration, this is basically a what you see is what you get auction. I did not clean this meter I will leave that to the new owner. So don't wait to bid because I hardly ever list anything twice and when this item is gone, it's gone. VINTAGE ANTIQUE GENERAL ELECTRIC GE POLYPHASE WATTHOUR METER MODEL D-7 220V 25A This auction is for one General Electric Polyphase Watthour Meter. It is in very good Original Condition without being restored. It is a vary rare meter being it is the larger 220 Volt model. Type D-7, 3 Wire 2 and 3 Phase. What makes it even more timeless and unique is the fact it still retains the original P.G. E. metal locks on wing nuts located next to the top name plate(see picture) It has not even been opened for over 50 years since the last day it was in use. This is a older version of this meter. You can tell by the four clock like dials under the top cover. Both glass covers are clean and is excellent condition. The numbers in the top glass matches the white numbers on the case. The case a small dent to top cover above the left wing nut but that is about ... moreit. This item has not been tested with unknown working condition. Must know how to fix if needed or use only as a collector's item. It is being sold in"AS IS" condition. The top name plate has the following information inscribed: Polyphase Watthour Meter No.9649196 Type D-7 Amp 25 Volts 220 3 Wire Cycles 60 2 and 3 Phase GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. U.S.A. 1948 Antique - General Electric - DC Ammeter
This is a unique collectible used at the University of Colorado. Boulder engineering department. I have tested the meter, and it still works perfectly despite its age. The meter can be zeroed/calibrated by the adjustment dial on the front. The meter is a current meter(ammeter) but the typed info sheet insert says millivoltmeter(typo? Meter is made of wood(oak? The Thomson watthour meter is the earliest example of an American direct-current motor meter, and ... moremost other direct-current watthour meters differ from it only in details of design and construction. This meter contains a double set of current coils and the moving element is composed of two armatures astatically arranged on a single shaft so that any uniform magnetic field tending to weaken the torque produced by one armature will strengthen the torque of the other by a like amount. The magnets are also astatically arranged and enclosed in a laminated shield of soft steel punchings to protect them from external magnetic fields and the strong fields caused by short circuits through the meter. The line current passes through the fixed field windings. And the armature, which is wound with fine wire, is connected through a series resistance across the line. On the shaft of the motor is a disk of copper or aluminum which rotates between the poles of several permanent magnets. The upper end of the armature shaft has a worm which engages with the first gear wheel of the register. The intricate instruments are fully enclosed in a reinforced cast brass frame containing clear glass panels.
