Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. I did not attempt to plug in and test. Cord is old and frayed. Knife switch does move up and down. Interior looks clean. Power wheel does turn by hand. Ready for restoration or put it on the shelf as is. The metal plate on the back of this meter identifies it as Portable Watthour Meter. Bookends with two vintage General Electric watthour meters on them. Both have a small amount of scuffs and scratches from normal use. One has a small crack in the bottom board as seen in picture. The meters themselves are in very good vintage condition. These are decorative. Not functional. I have no idea if they would work if hooked up. These are very cool for steam punk decor. Sangamo Electric Co. Vintage Electric Meter JS and JA (1940 to 1954) Approx
Please No Returns or Exchanges These our not actual pictures just info on item. JS and JA(1940 to 1954) Back, Up, Next, In 1940. The HFS and HFA meter were replaced by the JS and JA meters. The basic concepts behind the HFS and HFA meters were retained and updated. Initially, these meters were to be produced with chrome steel magnets, but just prior to production, these magnet assemblies were replaced with new Alnico magnets. The steel base on the HFS(which was prone to rusting out) was replaced with an aluminum base on the JS. Not This one Pete Mallet collection

Not an electrical person. Please ask questions and I will try to answer. Following is the info on the meter: Westinghouse watthour meter. 5 amps 120 volts. type CS. single phase s.821541 serial 15 244 397. two wire MADE IN USA 11-7-1937. Nicely cased. Portable. Plugged it in and attached my fryer to it and the large wheel started to spin around. Found some info on the web: The CS was a completely new design and the first of the modern socket meters. When meter mounting arrangements were standardized in 1934. The CS's enclosure design was emulated by the other manufacturers. The CA was introduced the same year when a new standard enclosure was developed for the bottom-connected singlephase meters. The first CS and CA meters had the same alphanumeric serial number system as the previous OC meters(and use the same stator design) The magnet ... moreassembly on this group of meters were painted black as was done on the OB and OC meters. In 1937, these meters had two changes: The magnet assembly was now painted silver and the alphanumeric serial number format was abandoned, the first new serial number being#15,000,000. Starting in 1940(16,500,000) the magnet assembly got a heavy layer of copper plating for surge protection(but this method was not as effective as using Alnico magnets) During WWII, a limited number of meters were made and these have thin plated COPPER disks. Some CS and CA meters are known with cyclometer or odometer registers and these are not as common as the pointer-type register.

It is in very good Original Condition without being restored. It is a vary rare meter being it is the larger 220 Volt model. Type D-7, 3 Wire 2 and 3 Phase. What makes it even more timeless and unique is the fact it still retains the original P.G. E. metal locks on wing nuts located next to the top name plate(see picture) It has not even been opened for over 50 years since the last day it was in use. This is a older version of this meter. You can tell by the four clock like dials under the top cover. Both glass covers are clean and is excellent condition. The numbers in the top glass matches the white numbers on the case. The case a small dent to top cover above the left wing nut but that is about ... moreit. This item has not been tested with unknown working condition. Must know how to fix if needed or use only as a collector's item. It is being sold in"AS IS" condition. up for auction is this Vintage. Early 20th century GE model, single-phase watthour meter. Type I-14, 60 cycle, 2 wire, 10 amps, 110 volts, 114 781 78(I presume to be the serial number) I am NOT an electrician. So I have no idea what any of this means. Nor do I know if it works, which is why I listed as non-working-for parts. Research indicates this type meter was 1st made around 1915. Don't know if that is when this was made, all I know is it looks old. Research also indicates this meter consists of a hollow cast iron casting, finished in original enamel black finish. The reinforced glass case is held down with 2 original cast brass wing nuts. The cover swings out when access is needed to the terminals. Other than old looking. Meter appears to be in decent shape. The glass cover is in beautiful shape. Clean with no cracks or breaks. It ... morehas 4 hole openings on the bottom, 2 for line, 2 for load. Vintage Industrial General Electric Polyphase Watthour Meter W/ Globe!
Here I have a general electric polyphase industrial size watthour meter Model BV6. It has all parts intact and the glass cover is great! It is a big one and I am unsure of what the working condition is or if it may be good for parts only but it does good! It actually came out of an elementary school back in the early 90's. My grandfather used to collect some crazy stuff so now I am trying to find homes for some of it! The meter is marked 2.5 amps 60 cyc. Type V-4A 4 wire 3 phase 277 Volts. The tag inside is#33 259298. The length of the whole meter is 14 5/8" by 7 1/2" wide. When laid on its back the glass and back of meter stand 7" Just the glass cover is about 5 1/4" and the length 11" approx. The measurement are as accurate as I could get without taking it all apart which I really didn't want to do in fear ... moreof breaking something! It all looks clean inside with the metal needed a good polish! Great steampunk meter to use for parts or turn into something cool! Feel free to ask questions! I will do my best! Thank u for looking!

Here I have a vintage Westinghouse single phase Type CA 3 wire 240 V USA electric meter that is complete with glass globe! Overall great looking condition with no breaks to outside or glass! It is serial#20 379-296 Type CA S.976661 15 Amp 240 Volts. No rust to metal but slight wear to paint on the line load cover. Nothing bad at all! It is as found so I do not know if it will work or if repair will be needed but it would be a gret parts meter if anything else! The inside looks good and clean and complete. The size is 9" long with the hanging latch on top included in the measurement. 5 3/4" tall from back to top of glass globe cover and 6 1/4" wide. The thermometer has been cleverly and attractively mounted on sold oak to resemble a working electrical meter. The thermometer works great and the small"meters" are only for affect. The piece is ready to hang and measures about 7-1/4" x 4-1/4" The glass dome over the thermometer stands about 2" tall x 2-1/2" in diameter. Vintage c.1920s General Electric Single Phase WattHour Meter. Good Condition
Up for auction is a very cool vintage G.E electric meter. It is a single phase watt hour meter. I can't quite make out from the brass plate what model type it is. But from the research I've done this type should date from the late 19teens to the 1920's[they started putting clear glass covers on them in the 1930s] The meter is in good condition cosmetically. There is some black stuff on the brass plate but that was scratching off with my thumb nail. I left it alone because I wasn't sure if it is supposed to be there. I took the cover off and it looks very clean inside. The wires coming out of the meter look fairly modern so it may have been in used fairly recently, but I have no idea how to test it so it is sold untested.
