Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. Please No Returns or Exchanges These our not actual pictures just info on item. JS and JA(1940 to 1954) Back, Up, Next, In 1940. The HFS and HFA meter were replaced by the JS and JA meters. The basic concepts behind the HFS and HFA meters were retained and updated. Initially, these meters were to be produced with chrome steel magnets, but just prior to production, these magnet assemblies were replaced with new Alnico magnets. Antique Sangamo Type H Electric Meter Cast Iron House / Home Watt
You Are Bidding On An Antique Sangamo Type H Electric Meter. It has a tag inside the glass dome it reads" A 4.8 Testing Constant 750" There is part of a paper label on the back but it mostly unreadable. The glass dome can be removed it is only attached by two threaded stems that run through the front of the glass. This is a very heavy metal meter I believe it is made of cast iron. I do not see any chips or cracks to the glass dome, but the metal meter is in need of some restoration, this is basically a what you see is what you get auction. I did not clean this meter I will leave that to the new owner. So don't wait to bid because I hardly ever list anything twice and when this item is gone, it's gone. There is a brass label on the front that specifies.30 AMPS, 110/220 volts 60 cycles, 3 wire, Line Load' and bears the serial number 233643. I have no way of testing this meter to see if it works or not, but when first acquired by me, it had a tag attached that reads"Meter Tests 100.1% see close-up photo) The test tag is from"The Twin State Gas& Electric Company" of Brattleboro, Vt. Evdrything about this meter seems original, still sealed and intact. The face of the meter shows four dials(10000, 1000, 100, and 10) beneath the glass on the front. The thermometer has been cleverly and attractively mounted on sold oak to resemble a working electrical meter. The thermometer works great and the small"meters" are only for affect. The piece is ready to hang and measures about 7-1/4" x 4-1/4" The glass dome over the thermometer stands about 2" tall x 2-1/2" in diameter.
