Up for bid is a nice newer GE DSM-55 polyphase switchboard style demand watthour meter.It is a 240 volt.3 phase, 4 wire Y unit.These meters were built from 1957-1999.my serial number log shows this unit was built in late 1980.With the introduction of the V-60 series of meters,the older DS series of meters were superseded by the DS-50 and DS-60 line of switchboard meters.These meters have the same elements as the transformer rated V-60 polyphase meters and follow the same numbering scheme.The DS-60 was the standard version with a connecting plug used to complete the connections between the meter cradle and the case(removing the plug activates a built-in bypass for the current connections) and which could easily be exchanged for a test plug. The DS-60 cradle could also be removed from the case for repairs if needed. The DS-50 was a lower cost ... moreversion with the cradle hard-wired to the case(the cradle could be moved forward for testing but an external test switch was required for these meters. This meter is in excellent condition.The case has little to no scratches.The plexiglass is clear with little to no scratches.The internal componennts are in like new condition.All of the transformer connection screws are in place and still has short lengths of wire connected to them.Even though this meter is somewhat newer than the other meters I have.It is still a very nice meter and will make a nice addition to a meter collection. It is in very good Original Condition without being restored. It is a vary rare meter being it is the larger 220 Volt model. Type D-7, 3 Wire 2 and 3 Phase. What makes it even more timeless and unique is the fact it still retains the original P.G. E. metal locks on wing nuts located next to the top name plate(see picture) It has not even been opened for over 50 years since the last day it was in use. This is a older version of this meter. You can tell by the four clock like dials under the top cover. Both glass covers are clean and is excellent condition. The numbers in the top glass matches the white numbers on the case. Here I have a general electric polyphase industrial size watthour meter Model BV6. It has all parts intact and the glass cover is great! It is a big one and I am unsure of what the working condition is or if it may be good for parts only but it does good! It actually came out of an elementary school back in the early 90's. My grandfather used to collect some crazy stuff so now I am trying to find homes for some of it! The meter is marked 2.5 amps 60 cyc. Type V-4A 4 wire 3 phase 277 Volts. The tag inside is#33 259298. The length of the whole meter is 14 5/8" by 7 1/2" wide. When laid on its back the glass and back of meter stand 7" Just the glass cover is about 5 1/4" and the length 11" approx. The measurement are as accurate as I could get without taking it all apart which I really didn't want to do in fear ... moreof breaking something! It is an antique Westinghouse Polyphase Watthour Meter. The meter is a large size at 11" tall x 7 3/4" wide x 9 1/2" deep. Including the posts. Without the posts, it is 5 1/2" deep. It weighs just under 23 pounds. It has some small chips and scratches to the glass and shows wear and use. There is some grime around the edge of the glass- see last picture. Overall. It is in very good used condition. A neat old large meter. I have an old GE Time Over Current relay listed in a separate auction at this time.
