This island consists of 64 acres off the coast of Port Antonio and was once owned by ERROL FLYNN who hosted many Hollywood parties for retreat from the real world in the 40's and 50's. He never owned a real home but moored his yacht"Zaca" by a thatch covered structure. LEN KOUTNIK, a land developer from LA purchased the island and planned an upscale vacation retreat with unusual tropical homes to be called"JAMAICA ISLANDIA" This is the DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL BOOK for those tropical homes. He got pressure from the Jamaican govt to buildl, so he downscaled his designs and his friends from Studio City, M& M Harry Eiler were the first to purchase& build one of the circular homes featured(the downscale ... moremodels) Investors joined Koutnik to begin constructeion of hotel and surrounding rental villas, but Koutnik ran out of funds and in time the island was closed by the Government Port Authority who bought out all remaining titles. The island was used for a while as a tourist attraction, but is now closed to the public. As recently as Oct 2012, the mayor of Port Antonio was calling on the Port Authority to restore the island, called one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. This book measures 24 1/2 x 18. Up for auction is a book put by the Manitowoc company of Manitowoc Wisconsin in 1956.The book measures about 121/4" by 9" and is plastic spiral bound The book is in very good to near excellent condition there is a plastic coating on the cover which is starting to peal however the cover is in near excellent condition with slight wear on the edge. There are 96 pages which are devoted to photographs. If you are interested in cranes this is the book for you with many pictures of cranes and crane building. No date but circa 1914(from sign on building shown on one side of poster) Nice picture of C H& E Gas Engine as part of the Rig. One side of poster shows the Saw Rig, the other shows a building under construction where various C H& E rigs are at work. Also shown are smaller pictures of various other rigs available from C H& E. See pictures of both sides of the flyer above and below. CONDITION: Poster is slightly worn and probably slightly(but uniformly) age darkened.
