Vintage Antique Log Cabin Quilt Hand Pieced Beautiful Colors
Here we have a beautiful log cabin quilt with wonderful colors and a stunning pattern. I think the it dates to the teens or twenties. The fabrics are all light weight wools and cotton prints. It measures app. 80" x 82" overall. The pieces are all hand sewn and it has not been top quilted. The backing is a great paisley print and it feels like there is no batting inside. There are several tiny holes throughout the quilt. I have photographed the worst damage. The quilt is still vis ually stunning. The s titch ing is strong and it is holding together well. This scrumptious log cabin quilt measures 74 x 74 inches and the fabric is a buttery cotton sateen. The person I bought it from said she got it at an estate auction in Ohio. And that dealer said it was Amish. Sewn with black thread, which you can see on the yellow backing. The first photo is an actual scan of the quilt. Why would you want this quilt? It has exceptional texture in the variety of the yellow fabrics used. It is dramatic and displays beautifully. Not because it's"perfect. because it isn't. There is damage to the black fabric, in the center, along fold lines, and at the border. There is also a 9 by 9 inch brown stain on the back, which does not go through to the front. It is `0" tall, with an applied top and smooth base. This is the second-scarcest of the Warner's Log Cabin bottles after the SCALPINE, and it is the tallest of the grouping. The glass is medium amber with much lighter areas, approaching honey or yellow-amber, as the pictures show. The embossing is all on the 3 front-facing panels: LOG CABIN/ HOP AND BUCHU/ REMEDY. Lancaster Pennsylvania- c.1880's Childs Quilt An Early Log Cabin Barn Raising Hap Quilt Embroidered with Feather Stitching Overall Completly Handmade DESCRIPTION An outstanding example of a Late 19th or Early 20th Century Lancaster County Pennsylvania antique quilt. Completly handstitched there is no machine work anywhere on this beauty. The pattern is Log Cabin Barn Raising. A beautifully pieced pattern in white and pink with small center squares of burgundy velvet. All the fabrics are cotton. It is a HAP quilt, thickly batted and tied down at regular intervals with a rose colored floss to hold that heavy batting in place. It is a small quilt made for a child to keep warm at night. This charming antique quilt has the added opulent touch of pink hand embroidery'Turkey Track or Feather' stitching covering each and every'log' ... moreand also around the wide triangular shaped border decoration. An amazing quilt when you think about the amount of handwork. each piece was folded and stitched by hand and then each seam carefully covered with this delighful hand embroidery. Every line of embroidery skillfully and neatly worked. This is a real beauty. The reverse is also quite interesting. Done in the traditional pattern of BARS. The back of the quilt alternates between a plain white and an apricot background color with a printed pattern of dark flower pots and faint white vines or trees growing upward. This printed fabric on the reverse is quite faded and the'trees or vines' are difficult to see. Also, the mordant used to set the dye to print the tiny black flower pot designs had a great deal of iron in it causing the'pots' to wear away(deteriorate) here and there, a common occurence in early fabrics. No other loss of fabric anywhere on the quilt this only affects some of the black flower pots. The quilt is bound with the same apricot printed fabric and again. All turned and stitched by hand. Superb 1870's antique Log Cabin Courthouse Steps quilt Charleston County, SC
Really belongs in a museum. One of those"damaged beauty" quilts I so love, made C. 1870's by an expert quilter, all is by hand in neat, straight 12 SPI stitchery, a lady who was creative as well as adroit in the art of quilting. All cotton, pieced, a very thin quilt, pattern is"Courthouse Steps" within the Log Cabin family, measures 86" x 76" Color combination is outstanding: indigo calico with small white flowers, lt. green calico with small white flowers, with the points of each step sequence set with one small square of light blue calico with small white flowers. Backing is a white cotton and is in pretty good shape, with normal wear and a little fragility around some of the edges(stabilizing netting would work here; also a few minor very small holes. This is one of those quilts one doesn't quite know ... morewhat to do about ~ let it live out its life as is, on a wall or antique bed(please don't wrap yourself up in it! or repair it using period fabric. Stablizing netting has been sewn all around the binding, but for approx. 2.5- 3" all around most of quilt from binding inward, we have damage. There are also a few small narrow"logs" that are shredding; so we're left with the second option, that of cutting off the damage all around the outside of quilt(probably about 2.5" all around) and re-binding it in period fabric. Or, of course, if you're a purist, the piece could be framed and would be preserved forever. Border damage aside, we have an extraordinary quilt here and an outstanding bit of Southern folk art, worthy of being preserved. Until you buy it, it has a place of honor in my living room, so I can enjoy it for at least a while. Offered is a wonderful log cabin quilt which I would date from about 1920 to 1930s. This thin quilt is in great vintage condition. Crisp and appears to never having been washed. It measures approximately 74 inches by 74 inches and is completely hand pieced. This quilt is hand quilted with approximately 6 to 7 precise stitches per inch. The cabin strips are done with a wonderful variety of fabrics.from mourning prints to shirting and lovely dress fabrics. The strips are about 1 inch wide and all are meticulously hand pieced. I absolutely love the back of this quilt! It is a so sweet red with a small black floral print whole cloth. Which has also been hand pieced together. The narrow separate red binding is both hand stitched onto the front and also to the back The backing is in good condition with only a very slight fading along the fold lines ... morewhere it has been stored. The binding is in extremely good condition with no fraying or any other problems seen. The front of the quilt is in overall very fine condition. The colors are bright and strong and even. There is an occasional light age spot but visually it all seems to blend in together.if you can even find them! There are no stains. Tears, or fabric pops. I have not laundered this quilt. I will leave that up for the new owner to do, if you feel it needs it. The quilt does not have any unpleasant odors and will come to you from a smoke free home. Beautiful example of the classic Log Cabin pattern. But this one has very small logs and an unusual setting of the blocks–kind of a cross between the Barn Raising and Streak of Lightning variations. The quilt also has an unusual zig-zag border, a superlative addition! The 5-inch blo cks are made with t eeny strips of gorgeous 1 9th century fabrics with double pink inch-square centers. The close hand quilting is very hard to see and it is somewhat camouflaged by the fabric on the back. Quilt pattern does not follow the‘logs’ but is executed in randomly placed straight parallel lines about ½ to ¾ inch apart all over the quilt. Antique Log Cabin Childrens Quilt & Pillow Very Old Primitive Dark 1900s
This quilt is very old. Purchased from an old estate approximately 25 years ago and the elderly folks were in their 80's that had passed away. The quilt is a log cabin style and the photo's showing the moth holes are taken in close up range so not really as large as they seem but wanted to show you the damage so you were aware that it was there. I will lint brush these before they ship. They do have a musty odor from old home. They had it when I purchased and still have it. They have been in a trunk. The quilt measures 66" long x 38 1/2" wide and comes with a very old tattered crows stitched baby pillow.Yellowed with age. The pillow is 9 1/2" X 6" Wide. You are purchasing a No Return Item so please know these are very old items. Flawed and well aged. You are not purchasing a quilt that you will cover up with but ... moremore an item that will be something to show n tell. This is something that is usually displayed in a museum and if it does not sell I probably will donate to a local museum on loan with a my name tag attached. Vintage log cabin quilt from the 50's made with every scrap on hand it looks like. Novelty cotton prints. Flannels, corduroys. Tweeds, and an occasional velvet thrown in. The back is a gray flannel fabric. Makes for a fun and charming quilt! Measures 78" X 68" This one looks as if it was never used. Or used gently. No tears, no holes and no stains. You are purchasing a nice Log Cabin Hickory Wood Queen Size Headboard. I have another Hickory Bed HB and FB on another listing. The headboard is shorter than this one cause whoever made it might have used 2 footboards. This one. You will need to make holes on the bottom to use bolt in rails. There is nowhere to attach rails so you can set against wall. This is very heavy and would look great in a log cabin or house. Check out the pictures for a better description. THIS IS A VERY NICE CLEAN ANTIQUE HOOKED RUG WITH A GEOMETRIC LOG CABIN(OR BASKET WEAVE PATTERN) FROM THE FIRST PART OF THE 20TH CENTURY. THE RUG IS HOOKED TIGHTLY ON A VERY SUPPLE BURLAP. THERE ARE MANY COLORS SUCH AS. RED, GREEN NAVY BLUE, BROWNS& EVEN A TURQUOISE. THERE IS HARDLY ANY FADING FROM THE FRONT TO BACK AS SHOWN IN THE SECOND PICTURE AS THEY LOOK EQUAL. THE EDGES ARE TRIMMED WITH A 7/8" SOLID BLACK AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS A GOOD STRAIGHT GEOMETRIC PATTERN ACHIEVED BY ALTERNATING BLOCKS OF LINES GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. RUG MEASURES 21" X 36" IT WEIGHS ABOUT A POUND AND A HALF. I HAD THIS RUG HUNG OVER A DOOR IN THE GUEST ROOM BUT YOU COULD VERY WELL USE A PIECE TO PUT UNDER SAY A WOODEN BOWL ON A TRESTLE TABLE.
