Do you collect vintage camping gear? I did a kiener pack google search and the first story to come up is about the"Kiener Route" up a Colorado mountain in 1925 and the tragedy of Walter Kiener losing his friend and nearly his own life getting back down. All the other results were in a foreign language! I don't know if this old pack is something this Kiener fellow may have made in a later career or maybe it's just a common pack from Switzerland. It has a couple flat internal springs to hold the shape and seems like a very well made piece of gear. Shows normal use but no rot or damage. Leather parts could use a little neatsfoot oil but are not hard or cracked. From the style of hardware etc I'm guessing this is 1950s vintage. Give or take a bit. Typical adult size. Vintage/ antique canoe seats and crossbrace Made of oak. With cane seats, old polyurethane finish Crossbrace measures 2 1/8" wide x 30" long. The wood is structurally sound. Could use a sanding and fresh coat of finish Front Seat: sitting area is approx 10" x 15" Sides extend to 22 3/8" and 26 3/8" Wood is solid. Cane is pretty brittle. I'd recommend recaning the seat if you plan to use it. And put a new finish on the wood. Back Seat: sitting area is approx 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" Sides extend to 15" and 20 1/2" Wood is solid. The lot had two Part I and five Part II of this particular series(pictured above) I think they were put in a box and shoved in a dark room for 75 years and forgotten about. Which accounts for their nearly new condition-as well as the fact that paper quality was just better in the 1930s. There are two stock certificate and one stock ledger book from the 1940’s; there is one certificate book for the Meade& Holler Contracting Corporation, and a set of certificates for the Holland Construction Corp. Some of the certificates found are unnumbered and only a few of the certificates found appear to have been filled out. The ledger book shows wear including yellowing and bends found in the paper; the Meade& Holler book has a bend in the cover and in some of the pages. The Seabee even has the white gloved- looking"hands" the first pair of"arms" is holding a shooting machine gun, an"arm" behind it is holding a wrench, and the"arm" behind it is holding a hammer. Toledo Torch Smudge Pot - Vintage Highway Hazard / Road Construction Marker
This is an old Toledo Torch brand smudge pot. These were used back in the day by construction crews to mark highway hazards and road construction areas. This has no dents. I have not used it. It has some surface rust as shown in photos. It does not have the cap that was used to snuff out the flame. It has a wick but I do not know how good it is. Nice example of old time construction equipment. Some folks use these on a patio and burn citronella oil in them to ward off bugs. No reserve. Ask your questions before bidding. Check my feedback.
