The Galion Iron Works Company was founded by David Charles Boyd in 1907. In the central Ohio town from which the company took its name. Galion’s first products included a wide range of road-building and other construction equipment, such as drag scrapers, plows, wagons, stone unloaders, rock crushers, and a variety of other"experimental machines" By 1911, Galion had settled the design of a light-duty, horse-drawn road grader, which entered serial production. The"Light Premier" was an early grader produced in 1915. It was billed as light enough for two horses, but strong enough for four. Its blade could be raised, lowered, angled, tilted, and shifted sideways, just like the blade movements on a modern grader. Galion soon became famous for building some of the largest pull-type graders made for road construction. Popular throughout the 1920s and 1930s. GILB Fish Shaped Wooden PERCUSSION GUIRO Wooden Scraper Included GREAT CONDITION
This is a percussion instrument in the shape of a wooden fish with scales on all side that you scrape with the wood pointer. It makes a great noise by scrapping the side or lightly taping it. Then change ends and the noise changes slightly. It is all wood with a hollow inside and fish face on the outside. The condition is very good to excellent with no damage anywhere. There are two places that look like something was dripped on the wood but I can't be sure, it could be in the wood to begin with and showed up after cutting. Antique Cast Iron Boot Scraper w/Pan, Signed E&T C. 617, Pre1900 w/Gate Mark
This nice cast iron book scraper came from an estate auction here in eastern Connecticut* Marked/stamped on the front of the scraper is: E&T C. 617. We could find no information on the E&T Company* The gate mark(the line on the bottom from where the hot iron entered the casting) dates it to the late 1800's. The pan measures 10-3/4" long and 8-1/4" wide at the top. The top of the pan is 2" high. The scraper measures 6" high to the top of the horns and can accomodate a boot up to 4" wide* The holes in the bottom of the pan which would allow it to be securely fastened to the step are on 6-5/8" centers. The scraper is in excellent condition and with a little more cleaning(or not) it's ready to use or display. There is NO RESERVE! There is NO HANDLING CHARGE! Antique Western Wheeled Scraper Road Grader Horsedrawn Vintage
Best I can tell this scraper is about 1892 vintage. Seems like the company made slight variations to the models maybe for customer desires. Everything is operable. Blade shifts from side to side, raises& lowers, blade rotates. Decks have been replaced, rear seat is a tractor type& front has springs but needs the wooden or metal buggy type seat. It is not original in some respects but I tried to get it as close as I could. It has a serial plate#258 which was purchased off eBay. Packing in the wheels is gone so wheels kinda wobbly, I put shims in to hold them tight. If you want to use it behind your tractor/horses/vehicle you'll probably need to remove them. So there's still some things left for your touches or you can leave as is. I entered it in our Christmas parade in our town(on the trailer) everyone loved it. ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY HEAVY FORGED STEEL & COPPER HERB CHOPPER PRIMITIVE SCRAPER
Here we have a really wonderful 19th Century forged steel& copper herb or food chopper with a rich patina. This primitive chopper measures 6 1/2" tall. The handle is 4 7/16" wide and the blade is 5 1/2" wide. It weighs 1 pound and 2 ounces. It was probably Artisan or blacksmith made and retains its original rich deep patina. This 19th Century chopper was hand crafted from one piece of forged steel and two pieces of heavy copper. The forged blade runs the length of the chopper with the copper being wrought and riveted into the handle. There is age appropriate evidence of use and some tool marks on the end where another utensil made contact with this chopper. Rogue Primitive offers up a one of a kind. Hand made Flint and steel striker combined with a ball bearing for aiding in bow/ drill friction fire. The flint stiker is a hardened steel file that throws amazing sparks when struck against flint, quartz, chert, jasper, obsidian or other hard rocks. The striking edge of the steel is approximately 1 3/8" long. The ball bearing takes a lot of the work out of making fire using a bow and drill. Both the steel and the bearing are set into a piece of Blacktail Deer shed antler(No animals were harmed in the making of this tool; The steel is squared off, and is exceptional for striking sparks from a ferro rod as well. Vintage Stanley No. 82 Cast Iron Wood Working Plane or Cabinet Scraper
Vintage Stanley No. 82 Wood Working Plane or Cabinet Scraper A scraper that has a long. Turned wooden handle with a pivoting portion that holds the scraper blade. The pivoting portion on the scraper has a turned knob and a clamping mechanism to secure the blade. The advantage of a scraper of this design is that the blade can be adjustable to many different angles. Its handle and knob are maple with a ferrule at the juncture on the handle and where the tang is inserted. The cast iron portion of the plane is japanned, marked Stanley No. 82, and thumb screws are nickel plated. The plane is cast iron with a hardwood handle and it measures 14 1/2" L with a 3" blade(it has no blades) Discrepencies are noted in photos and description. Stanley No. 80 Scraper Plane. Sweetheart Model! Great User!
Here is good example of a Stanley number 80 scraper. The cutter holder bar is marked with the Stanley last Sweetheart logo with the patent dates of 6/2 and 6/23 of 1914. The original japanning is about 80 percent on the top side body and 95 percent on bottom side of the body and retains the original luster. I wiped the dust off this one for the pictures. But other than that it is how I found it. This is out of a user's shop and the former owner lightly lapped the sole. As I found it. The body is in good shape with no damage or rust, but there are some spots of light staining. The mouth is good with no cracks or chips. The cutter is good and has a 2 beveled cutting edges. It is 2 3/8 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide. It has the Stanley, last Sweetheart Logo as shown. A little staining, but a nice smooth face. The nickel plated parts, ... morethe blade holder bar and the screws, have good nickel plating, as shown. This is really a blade holder for the scraper blade. If you have ever used a card scraper. You will know the value of this tool. A scraper blade gets hot from use. Trust me on that one! This is still the golden years of Stanley production when people made a living using them. This is a very well made version that saw little use. The cutter has plenty of life left and tool is solid. Sharpen the cutter and put this one back to work or add it to your plane collection, either way I think you would like this one. As always, take a look at the pictures. I try my best to show everything, so you know exactly what you are getting. That is important to me. I buy here also and I know the feeling when something finally arrives and it is not what you thought. This shade is a three tiered milkglass shade in a sky scraper art deco style, popular in the 1930's. Since the fixture was not removed from the ceiling(just the shade) I was unable to tell who made it, but I suspect it is Virden, like the other fixtures I sold earlier this month. Original Stanley No 83 Cabinet Scraper Hand Plane 1896
Up for auction is an Original Stanley No 83 Cabinet Scraper Plane. Overall the base is about 9 1/8" long. The metal face plate is 4" wide. Unfortunately the blade is missing along with the thumb studs. The patent date is Feb 4th 1896. It does have some surface rust but nothing major, it could use a good cleaning and oiling for display. This would be a great addition to a collection or for use. Take a look at all the picture for closer details and conditions, what you see is what you will be getting. Stanley 112 Scraper Plane. Great User or Restoration Plane
Here is ugly example of a Stanley number 112 scraper plane. It is an early model prior to the marking of the blade tension screw. So prior to 1910. The good news is that it has no damage, owners marks, or pitting on the sole, sides, or frog. The bad news is there is only about 30 to 40 percent japanning left on the body and the tote has been repaired. The blade holder(frog) has about 60 percent japanning left on it. Can't really figure why the japanning would flake off like it did, but I have seen a few others like this. The bare metal is smooth and clean with only a couple of tiny dings. The mouth is great and original. The knob is fine with full original finish. The rear brass adjuster nut has a few dings to the knurling, but the front one and blade tension screw is fine. The cutter looks to be original, is marked STANLEY, and is smooth ... morewith some staining. It is short and would need to be replaced for use. The japanning loss will not affect the use of this scraper at all. All the important parts are present and work just fine. Buy yourself a good after market cutter and put this one back to work. If the japanning loss bothers you, I am sure it could be touched up, and you would have a great looking tool. These are a great user tool, one of the best to come from Stanley. They will leave a silky smooth finish to wood with a properly sharpened cutter and a proper set up. This one just doesn't look the best, but it will work just as well as a bright, shiny one. As always. Take a look at the pictures. I try my best to show everything, so you know exactly what you are getting. That is important to me. I buy here also and I know the feeling when something finally arrives and it is not what you thought. Measures 5 1/4" long. Marked with a W in a circle, Webster? and Sterling on one edge. Pattern features Lily of the Valley in high relief on both sides of handle, flower buds in white enamel and some smattering of green enamel on the leaves and stems. Some enamel wear. There is a nick on the tip of the blade, may have been made that way, not sure. These were made for scraping away mistakes made when writing with ink using a quill or dip pen. I believe they were also used to sharpen pencils and scraping away sealing wax from envelopes. I would say this dates to the late 1800s to early 1900s. We were recently fortunate enough to be able to obtain some very interesting items from an auction that came from the collection of an elderly gentleman from the Paducah. KY area who for many years collected in the area of western Kentucky, eastern Ohio and throughout the Mississippi valley. Included in the collection is this large blond flint scraper with obvious signs of use. This great scraper has bevel edges on two sides and appears to have an intention flat surface on the third side. This heavy scraper measures 5 3/4 inches by 5 inches and is approximately 1 inch thick. This scraper weighs right at 1lbs. 2 oz. In addition. Included in this auction is a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/4 inch light gray granite Mano or grinding stone that weighs in around 10 oz.
