You are viewing a 1953 Minneapolis Moline advertising Newsletter. It was distributed by the Wheatland Elevator& Implement Co. of Wheatland. Wyoming. It measures 11 inches tall and 24 1/2 inches long. It has advertising on either side. It advertises the model BF, UB, ZB, BG, the new 88, huskers and shellers, 10 commandments for farm safty, storing wheat, G diesel, sheller, and information about farming and profits. It will be shipped rolled up. It would make a great addition to any collection. The 8 advertising mailers from the Montana Elevator Co. all date between 1935 and 1941. Each measures 8 1/2" x 11" folded and 17" x 11" unfolded. The mailers are in very good condition. One, unused, shows the Canadian Northern Grain Elevator in Port Arthur. 2nd, mailed in 1936, has Sherbrooke Street in Montreal. 3rd, unused, shows Trail Island Light near Victoria, British Columbia, and 4th shows the Court House in Winnipeg, Canada. Dart's invention consisted of a wooden structure that served as storage bins for the grain. Loading the grain into this structure was a steam-driven belt which had buckets attached to it. As the belt with the buckets was lowered into the hold of a ship or train. The buckets would scoop up the grain and hoist it up into the structure where it was dropped into tall bins. This is where the term"elevator" originated because this is exactly what the process did. Because it is quite old it does show quite a bit of wear. No rips in the pages, but creased edges/pages and dirt damage, but all the words and pictures are still visable. Rare antique key box for an elevator key. Used by the fire department in case of an emergency. At the bottom of the box is a brass plate that reads"Elevator Key for Fire Dept. and Emergency Use Only. The box has the original glass intact. And a rusted, aged patina. There is a small corner piece missing from the glass. The back plate portion was bent during salvage and has some curve to it. This sign are form at least the 50's and was used by the Otis Elevator company to signify an inoperable elevator under service. How cool would this be hanging on a closed door in the man cave? I got my user name artslumo thirty years ago when a friend was trying to describe my taste in architecture. I overheard him making fun of me when describing the things I collected and salvaged. He said that some people liked art deco. Others, art nouveau, and because I was getting things out of burnt out tenements, he called me art slumo. That said I salvaged these old freight elevator fire doors out of a building in lower Manhattan. I have four pairs of them Some pairs are hinged and others are on rollers. Up for auction is a vin tage'The Clipper' No. 2B Special fanning mill. This machine ha s bee n in storage for some ti m e. And I had never seen one pr ior to obtain ing this one. So I'll do m y best to describe it. Manufactured by A.T. Ferrell& Company in Saginaw Michigan. This machine appears to operate as it should. Although the old leather belt for the turbine didn't seem to want to stay on. Since I took the pictures, I figured the correct way to run the belt, and now it works just fine. Operator error: It has an electric motor. I do not know if it was converted to electric at some point. Or if the motor is original equipment. The v-belt is frayed, and could stand to be replaced, but it does run the machine. There are a couple of places where the wood on the machine has been damaged. Mainly the corner of the hopper, and it is pictured below. The metal parts of the machine do have some surface rust. But I didn't notice any areas of rot.
