Vintage 12 Volt DIETZ 245 A1 Amber Caution WARNING Revolving BEACON Safety Light
For auction is this nice looking. 12 volts, DIETZ#245. Series A1. Amber caution"WARNING" revolving beacon safety light. The light has an aluminum and tin base with an amber colored plastic dome that is clamped on to the base with a locking expansion ring that fits snugly around the base of the dome. Please refer to the description photos for more details about what I have described. The light fixture measures approximately 5.75" tall and 5.0" in diameter at the bottom and 4.25" at the top of the dome. There are two electrical wires that run out the bottom and side of the light fixture. These wires have been cut in order to dismantle and remove the fixture from the base it had once been mounted upon. The plastic amber dome is in very good condition as it is clear and shows no signs of cracks. Chips or having any significant ... morescratches or scuffing over its surface. There are minor light scratches and wear marks about the dome's surface but this is from normal use over the years and nothing you would not expect to see on a piece such as this. The aluminum base is also in very good condition showing signs of minor oxidation and age spots along the sides. The noted minor oxidation issues can easily be mitigated with a little"000" steel wool and a few minutes of the new owners time. There is a" DIETZ" company label affixed to the outside of the fixture's base. The label measures approximately 7/8" by 1.75" in size and provides the following information. DIETZ 245" VOLTS 12" SERIES A1" R. E. DIETZ CO. SYRACUSE. N.Y. U.S.A. Before listing this piece of equipment. I tested the light fixture by touching the two electrical leads to my truck battery. I am happy to report the light does work as designed. The motor works perfectly as it steadily spins the reflective concave shield inside the dome continuously around the lighted bulb thereby creating the desired rotating beacon affect. There are some superficial"rub" marks on the top that can probably be polished out. It has its original stainless steel band and identification tag. The bottom of the metal casing has been cut out in the center and has had some holes added for mounting. The original magnets are still present.
