Boonton 4200 Dual Channel Microwave Power Meter
This is another piece of test equipment I acquired when our test department closed 10 years ago. I’ve almost never used it. This is the dual channel model with both sensors. The IEEE-488 interface does not work. It is disabled on the top board as shown in the image above. It hangs up the meter if connected. This was a common problem with these meters. It works just fine in the manual mode. As long as you don’t need remote control you’ll never notice it. The meter is not calibrated. What you are bidding on it a Hewlett Packard 430C power meter. It also come equipped with the HP477B Thermistor Mount. The meter has been in a closet for many years. There is a fair amount of dust and dirt that has been dusted away with a soft brush. I have had the meter on and it still zeros the meter on the 10mw scale. The meter seems a bit noisy on the 3mw scale. I was my experience when I used them. That it was impossible to get an accurate reading on the.3mw range. To measure any kind of power the meter has to have a proper directional coupler. This is offered as is for parts. Repair or restoration. I think this would be a fine restoration project. Unfortunately I do not have a manual for the meter. However, I have seen them for sale on line. The tubes are also readily available as new tubes or NOS( New Old Stock) in line.
