This hard to find Bird ThruLine Model 4430 RF Directional milli-Wattmeter uses standard Bird 43 elements. The Model 4430 has a fixed sampler port on the right side of the housing near the top edge. The port has a fixed sample attenuation of-43dB from the signal being measured by the wattmeter. The sample is accessed by the BNC connector on the side which supplies the greatly reduced sample signal for use by an oscilloscope. Spectrum analyzer, frequency counter, etc. The 4430 has been discontinued and replaced by the 4431 which is basically the same unit except that the 4431 has a non calibrated adjustable sample level control on the front of the wattmeter. Full details of the 4431 are on pages 38-41 in the 66 page Bird 43 instruction manual on Bird's website. The 4431 information can be used as a general guideline for the 4430. Dielectric Products Adjustable Directional Coupler. This precision coupler is designed to be adjusted for maximum forward/reflected ratio. And degree of coupling. It has a calibration scale on it. It's designed to mount to a piece of coaxial line with band clamps, and via a hole in the side of the line with locating pin holes. When properly adjusted it will permit high precision measurements to a degree far better than a fixed coupler. Typically used with spectrum analyzers and network analyzers. This model is designed to straddle a large diameter line. We tried it on a 3 1/8" section, it seems to be made to fit a larger size line, perhaps 6" Sorry, no other info or documentation.
