GE Monitor Top Cartridge Heater
To everyone that has been lookng for these here it is. A brand new manufactured to spec cartridge heater for GE Monitor top Refrigerators. Covering all DR, D& CA Model Refrigerators. The heater is 1/2 inch diameter x 2 inch length with 32 inch leads to accomadate replcement of the wiring all the way back to the control/hook-up point. They are 12 Watts by 120 Volts. Before purchase check the ID of the opening needing the heater. I have found that the Cartridge heater opening is not always true in shape, when I have tried to install new heaters it has confussed me for the new heater did not go all the way in and upon inspetion of several heaters, many are the demension of the new one but apparently sometimes the tube got damaged assembling the fridge and they altered the shape of the heater to make it fit. I Don't Warrent the heater ... morewill fit but in most cases no problem. You can check your opening using the back side of a 1/2 inch(500 thousants) metal drill bit and use it as a plug gauge to insure your opeing is in good shape. the heaters are slightly undersized.002"004" For Installation of the heater it was reccommended to me to dip the new heater in Milk of Magnesia. this will keep the heater from getting stuck as well as create proper heat transfer. If you don't feel qualified to do this I don't reccommend you attemt this proceedure. In some case I have had to loosing the evaporater plate(take the screws out) to get the old wiring to free up. Common in DR 1 machines. CA units generaly no problem. all though I generally pratially seperate the unit to allow rewairing of the compressor and thermostat for the wriing is almost always old and dry wrotted. DR 2&3 machines you can carefully pull these ones through but they are a tuff pull and these ones the way they are put together does not easily allow the unit to be loossened up. all though I have done it. I will get the heater out to you ASAP but I work away from home so I will be shipping only on weekends.
