Although repro UHMW does not carry any food grade rating like virgin material, it is still just as useful in other areas, such as sliding and wear applications. Reprocessed UHMW is not junk. The manufacture takes UHMW pieces that were unusable. Grinds it up into fine pieces, and mixes it with virgin resin and black pigment. The virgin material stabilizes repro UHMW, and the black pigment gives it a uniform color throughout the piece.
