The key is present and can lock\unlock the device. The Clear\Repeat knob appears to work, EX: when in "Repeat" mode the number column settings remain once check is embossed but when in the "Clear" mode the number column settings are reset. The pull knob on the back enables/disables the grid of embossed dots. There is some ink left for the embossing but starting to dry out and could use some more ink.
