NEW HAMPSHIRE LEDGER CIRCA 1830 HANDWRITTEN WITH NAMES REV & WAR OF 1812 VETS
Up for auction is a really unique ledger from the town of Sandborton New Hampshire. ledger is 87 pages in length and is filled with handwritten entries The first date of the ledger 1830 and than continues until around 1854. The ledger appears to have belonged to one of the members of the Sandborton family related to the founders of the town. I believe he fixed wagons. For the most part the entries are about how he was working on various wagons, mending carts, and fixing them for other members of the town. What really makes this ledger interesting is the fact that Sandborton is and was such a small town. This helps when identifying the names of the individuals inside the pages. Another interesting fact is the towns participation in historic events though out the nations history. Many of the members of this small town fought in the Revolutionary ... morewar. The War of 1812, and the civil war. I found four Captains listed in the ledger Captain Ebenezer Sandborton listed as a solider in the war of 1812 Captain Aza Cummer listed as solider in the war of 1812 Captain Foulsom? I believe he was listed in the War of 1812 as well. Captain John Philbrook? more Names mentioned in the ledger are Andrew J Gale James B holt Charles L Lane James Taylor Ethem Phibrooke Ezra Eastman Jeremurah Tilton Franklin Stone James B Abott John Patton John Brown Curtis Weeks Thomas Chafe Moses Clark Sammel Henry Charles Jaques Lucean Garrish Stephen Clay William Forrest David Johnson*There are many more this is a sample* the Sandbortons are well represented in the ledger. Some of the same names as those listed as serving in the revolutionary war. Inside the book is a reports of town Treasurer and overseers of the poor report for the year of 1840. I have added some back round info on Sandborton with lists of names of the town members who served in the various wars. INCORPORATION OF THE TOWN- The first movement for incorporation of the town was a petition presented to the Governor March 1. 1770, signed by Joseph Hoit and Josiah Sanborn. The pet
1855 LEDGER LAW DOCKET STATE OF IOWA 169 PAGES FILLED DETAIL CIVIL WAR ERA RARE
Up for auction is an intriguing ledger/ law docket from the state of Iowa circa 1855-1870. This ledger belonged to Justice of the Peace James Fairchiles of Jackson township. Hardin County Iowa. Fairchiles name is written inside the front cover is bold blue script. With the date April 23rd 1855. Incidentally Fairchiles fingerprint in bold blue ink has been left on one of the pages as he was writing up a case! This ledger is absolutely filled with 169 handwritten entries on both sides of the paper. With many of the entries filling up the entire ledger paper. The cases are described in detail with names of defendants and plaintiffs. What really makes the ledger so interesting to read is the court cases and their descriptions. There are many cases for failure to pay promissory notes. But there are also many exciting court cases. For example warrants ... moreissued. And cases for more serious crimes Here is just a sample of what to expect of some of the more interesting cases: Threats of Violence States of intoxication Bootlegging. Keeping of illegal liquor Passing counterfeit bills Disrupting a religious society Attempted bodily harm Assault*There are more cases this is just a highlight* I would estimate at least 160 individual cases Some of the names contained inside the ledger are Steel vs Hoskins Simson vs Boyd Hale vs Greer and many more there is a page filled with the names of the cases. Any questions feel free to ask payment within 4 days close of auction. Hardin County is named after Colonel John J. Hardin a leader in the Black Hawk Wars. The county was organized in 1852. Judge William McKay appointed two men to locate a suitable site for a county seat. In June of 1853. They selected the site which is now known as Eldora. The town was named by Mrs. S. R. Edgington after the name of her child who had just died. The County seat has been in Eldora since 1853. This location has been challenged four times with court cases and voting deciding the outcome. Steamboat Rock. Berlin, and Point Pleasant were the earliest of

*HANDWRITTEN SERVANT LEDGER 1821 1869 HISTORIC WEALTHY PA & NJ FAMILY FILLED *
Up for auction is a very unique and rare ledger belonging to Jeremiah Fisher Leaming(1795-1888) The son of Thomas Leaming(1748-1797) AND his wife- Rebecca(Waln) Leaming(1802-1846) Inside the front cover it states J.F. Leminig's Account of Servants wages from 1821 to- Rebecca Waln Leming's name is also written on the following page and the year 1822. The Leming and Waln family were quite wealthy. And well know in NJ& PA. Leming was a descendant of the Mayflower and his family owned large tracts of land on the east coast. What I find even more fascinating is the possibility that many of the servants mentioned in the ledger are former slaves. I believe this. Because of research done by the National Park Service and other historians, indicates that a large number of servants in Philadelphia in the 1820s and 30s- were either former ... moreslaves or free African Americans. I have researched the individuals listed in the ledger one in particular seems like a candidate. The others need more attention. Some are listed by first name only) His name is David Shockley he worked for the Leaming family for 31 years. He is listed as a Waiter. And Coachmen in the ledger. There is a separate letter written by someone in the Leaming family. This letter I believe. Links Shockley to the Wesley Episcopal church( listed as a Free colored church in PA at the time) Excerpt from the letter see photo( 8& 9) Died Sept 28. 1858 aged 61 years and of Hannah his wife died July 1854 aged 54 years- he was for many years a trustee of the Wesley( are in paper is hard to decipher) Episcopal Church This stone is erected by J.F. Leaming in whose family the deceased lived 31 years faithful in all his duties and respected by all who know him. Thomas Leaming( Jermiah's father) did own slaves. There is information below that I found on a genealogy website. The information on the servants in PA is also listed below here is an important excerpt. Philadelphia was an important center for indentured servitude even as late as the 1820s. It is re

Boarding House Ledger Lumber River Rafting Olean,NY +PA Rare Handwritten 1833
Boarding House Ledger Lumber River Rafting Olean.NY +PA Rare Handwritten 1833 Description Amazing historical record documenting the origins of the Wheeler. Dusenbury& May Lumber Co. ~ A ledger book belonging to Ezra May. One of the founding members of the company, for a boarding house kept for employees in Portville near Olean, NY, beginning in 1833. Many of these employees were river raftsmen who would run logs down the Allegheny River to Warren. Philadelphia and beyond. The company. Later called the Wheeler& Dusenbury Co. would grow to become one of the largest in Pennsylvania. These men were pioneers and true visionaries. William Wheeler. Mentioned numerous times in the book, traveled by horseback through the virgin forests of Northwest Pennsylvania scouting out tracts to purchase for the company. When he ran out of road, he followed ... morethe rivers and streams to chart prime sources of pine, hemlock and spruce. The company did not indiscriminately clear cut these areas. But used a more selective approach. Today a large part of the Allegheny Forest survives as a testament to the wisdom of this course. One of the last remaining old growth forests in the United States exists because William Wheeler and Henry Dusenbury set it aside and left it untouched. It is called"Heart's Content, and remains a public recreation area today. Among their other innovations was the operation of the first successful band mill in the United States. At Endeavor, PA, and development of the Hickory Valley Railroad Co. one of the largest logging rail networks in Northwestern Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. ANTIQUE VINTAGE UNDERWOOD STANDARD TYPEWRITER MODEL NO. 3 - LEDGER PLATEN
Here is an Antique Underwood Standard Typewriter. It has no model number that I can find but my research tells me it’s a Model No. 3. This is a harder-to-find Model than most Underwoods. This carriage is designed for accounting and bookkeeping and made to accommodate a ledger size sheet of paper with a 14.5-inch rubber roll. Its outside dimensions are approximately 17 inches long(not including outside platen knobs) and 12 inches from front to back and 9 inches tall. This typewriter is in very good condition. It is very clean for its age and has been well taken care of. The paint is all original and in good condition with all the original stenciling intact. The keys are all in good condition and all work fine. It types 12 characters=1 inch. The only issue I could find is the space bar will only start working if you center the page in the platen. ... moreI believe the front top bar has a slight bend and has caused the space bar be slightly off-balance. But since the platen is large there is plenty of room to place the paper towards the center of the roller so the space bar will function properly. The ribbon in strong The finish is original and in very good condition. All the lettering and numbering is present. In small lettering on the front rule it is marked“COPYRIGHT 1895 to 1923. John Deere Farmers Pocket Ledger 1920 EXCELLENT
John Deere Farmers Pocket Ledger 1920. This ledger has NO writing in it at all. It shows the Deere line of equipment inside-plows. Cultivators, drills, planters, harrows, listers, binders, mowers, rakes, hay press, hay loaders, spreaders, shellers, elevators, wagons, buggies, engines, and Waterloo Boy tractor. This ledger is excellent. Look closely at the picture to see slight stains on cover. Back cover equally good. It says Series D-1-Factories-1920. The only damage is there was a paper clip on the last page and back cover. You can see a slight indentation where the clip was and a tiny rust outline where it touched the next to last page. 64 pages total. Nicest ledger of this age I have ever seen.

1761 FRENCH INDIAN WAR DIARY LEDGER CROWN POINT LAKE GEORGE COL WHITING REGIMENT
1761 FRENCH& INDIAN WAR DIARY LEDGER CROWN POINT LAKE GEORGE FORT#4 COLONEL NATHAN WHITINGS REGIMENT OWNED AT THE TIME BY CAPT. ELIJAH ROSE. DANIEL FOSTER, AND DAVID ARNOLD, ALL SERVING IN COL. NATHAN WHITING’S REGIMENT STATIONED AT CROWN POINT, FORT NUMBER 4, AROUND LAKE GEORGE. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR MILITARY DIARY DATING TO 1761. THERE IS A GENEALOGICAL ENTRY STATING THAT ELIJAH ROSE ALSO SERVED DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR. BASED ON THE INSCRIPTIONS. I BELIEVE IT WAS JOINTLY OWNED BY FOSTER AND ROSE. IT SEEMS THAT I COULD HAVE ALSO BEEN USE AND/OR GIVEN TO DAVID ARNOLD. DAVID WROTE A NUMBER OF MILITARY ACTIVITIES AND ENTRIES SUCH AS HARNESSES FOR HORSES. GLOVES, BRIDALS, POWDER, SHOT, CANDLES, ETC. DAVID TURNED THIS BOOK INTO HIS OWN PRIVATE LEDGER IN WHICH HE ACCOUNTS WEAVING. RUM, POWDER, SHOT, CORDS, CANDLES, ... moreETC. THERE ARE SOME ENTRIES FOR LUMBER. SAWMILLS, MEASURING BOARDS, ETC. THE BOOK THEN PASSED TO HIS SON. ELI ARNOLD. ELI BECAME A METHODIST PREACHER AND WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF VILLANOVA. NY. THERE ARE MANUSCRIPT SERMON& BIBLE NOTES INSIDE. THERE ARE ALSO SOME“SAVED” OR BAPTISED WOMEN AND CHILDREN. THERE IS A MANUSCRIPT GRID MAP INSIDE SHOWING A CLAIM OF LAND. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS FROM THE CROWN POINT ERA OR IF IT WAS LATER AT VILLANOVA SINCE ELI WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SETTLERS. THIS MAY BE AN EARLY GRID OF THAT AREA FOR LAND OWNERSHIP. THE LAST FOUND OWNER OF THE PERIOD IS ELI’S SON WESLEY. THE MILITARY CONTENT IS ONLY AROUND 5-6 PAGES BUT IT IS AMAZING FRENCH& INDIAN WAR HISTORY THAT WAS ACTUALLY AT CROWN POINT. ON THE INSIDE OF ONE COVER READS: DANIEL FO…ELIJAH ROSE(CROSSED OUT BY LATER OWNER) HIS BOOK AND CELING? CAMPT(ENCAMPMENT) LAKE GEORGE AT 7 TH DAY OF JUNE THE FIRST YEAR OF OUR SOVEREIGN LORD THE THOURD 1761. ON THE INSIDE OF THE OTHER COVER IT READS: DANIEL FOSTER HIS BOK AND WRITING CROWN POINT NOVEMBER 2D 1761…ELIJAH PEN… I WONDER IF ELIJAH COULD WRITE AND DANIEL COULDN’T IN WHICH ELIJAH PEN WOULD MEAN THAT HE WROTE IT FOR DANIEL? Vintage Mrs Eichman Accounts Ledger 1906 & 1907, Excellent cond.
On the cover of this small brown book it reads: Mrs Eichman 127. M'd Ave NE You open the 4.25" x 7" x.5" book and on the first pp you will notice this account is with R.E. Clewents(spelling of last name questionable) of 3rd + A Sts. S.C. The first date of this account is Oct. 24. At the top of the next pp the year 1906 is written on the left side of pp. Between each pp is a pink paper. The texture of this pp is rougher than the accounting pp. The final date of paid on account is Jul. 26,07. The last portion of the book was used for recipes. In this section you will find a few soiled pps. Which is understandable. The pps have yellowed from age. The book is tight. No loose pps, no improper use of book. The book shows slight signs of wear around the corners and has faded slightly. In my opinion this book is in EXCELLENT condition. ... moreYou be the judge for I am no expert in this field. This set of 3 vintage hardcover cash and record Ledger books only have a few of the pages with some writing in them. They are large 8" x 10" with strong spines and are embellished with black bold type. These are great looking books to add to a vintage office or den or could be used as background props for vintage pictures. It is my goal to make you a repeat customer and get you to add me to your favorite sellers list. So my shop policies are short and sweet. You are agreeing with these policies when you buy any of my stuff. Please take a look for yourself to avoid any confusion. Free shipping(if applicable) is for lower 48 only. Outside of U.S.A. ignore the quoted shipping cost and contact me for ACTUAL rates ... moreBEFORE BUYING. I do not ship on weekends because I'm out looking for more great stuff like this. If you are not happy with any item you purchase from me and you choose to leave NEGATIVE feedback rather than return item for a refund. That will be fine. I make an honest effort to list every item accurately but have come to realize it is impossible to measure the expectations of each individual buyer on items that are being sold as used to begin with. If this listing does display a U.S.A. shipping cost it is based on rates to California which for some reason always seem to be higher than ANYWHERE else. We also offer free local pickup or we can deliver locally for a nominal fee. In the event of a refund. The buyer(that would be you) is responsible for all return shipping cost. And also agrees to the sellers(that would be me) discretion of issuing refund either by pay-pal or personal check. ShipSaver.
