The piece still functions as intended. I did a test on blank paper and it seemed to work fine, see photo#12. Cosmetically it is in very nice shape with just a couple of scratches or scrapes here and there but nothing major. All the keys are intact with no chips or cracks. This is a Paymaster Check writing machine. It is model X2000. I believe it was made around 1963. It appears to be in good condition but it has not been used in a long time. The handle pulls down and it feels like the imprinter is moving but I do not know how to open it. It does not make an impression on a piece of paper. Be aware that it might need some repairs.

Up for auction we have the Paymaster Series S-1000 Check Writer. It is the vintage avocado green with a bright green handle. The levers all move with ease. The“clear” lever works to bring the display back to zeroes, and the key actually locks the handle in place when turned. The inside looks pretty clean. The back has“Carl’s Drive-In” written on it in black marker. I do not know where this might have been located. The outside may need to be cleaned up a bit. DESCRIPTION Up for your consideration is this vintage seafoam green PAYMASTER SERIES 8000 RIBBON CHECK WRITER also known as a ribbon writer. Check protector and check embosser. These machines were designed to protect a check from unauthorized alteration of either the amount or the authorizing signature. The Paymaster series 8000 can print amounts up to $999.999.99 and o n this particular machine. The nameplate reads"THE SUM" and will print those words before the amount if one chooses to use the plate.
