PAIR ANTIQUE BOOKBINDERS DOUBLE& TRIPLE LINE CURVED PALLET FINISHING BRASS HAND TOOLS LEATHER BOOK GILT GOLD TOOLING A pair of antique bookbinders double& triple line brass finishing tools/pallets/fillets. No maker's mark but I would hazard a guess these were produced late 19th early 20th century. Unusual as the 1st line to both tools protrudes further forward than the others(see pics) Both in good condition. There are some minor age-related marks/signs of use& minor pitting/discolouration to the metal. Tool edges in good condition with no dints/nicks. Handles in good condition with only some minor age-related marks. Measures approx: 31.5cm Overall length ~ 3.4cm Tool Face Length ~ 3mm& 5mm Tool Face Widths. Bookbinders singe line pallet, gilding.
Brass single line pallet in very good condition. No nicks on surface, some oxidation. Measurements: 19 cm with handle. Line length 4.5 cms This is one of a number of bookbinding tools which I'll be listing over the next few days. Please contact me if you'd like any more information or photographs. BOOKBINDING GILDING FINISHING TOOL - THICK SINGLE LINE PALLET 52mm WIDE
If more than one item is purchased at the same time please wait for me to send a combined postage invoice(UK&International) as I do it by weight and is cheaper than giving a discount(with the UK depending on combined size/weight I can post 2-8 hand tools for £4.50) The item for sale is a bookbinding finishing tool- the head is 52mm wide with the 2.5mm- there is no play to the handle but it does have a shrinkage crack- there are a couple of tiny inclusions to the pattern face which I doubt will affect its use. No makers name. Will be posted using a cardboard tube or box. This is part of an antique collection of bookbinding tools that i will be selling over the coming weeks and will combine postage where possible and will be done on combined weight as it works out a lot cheaper than giving a% discount- on the smaller items typically ... morethe 2nd item purchased of a similiar size works out 50% or less. Please be aware that they have wear.Oxidisation,burnt handles etc commensurate with age and use.
