BOURG BB1001 hot glue PERFECT BINDER 110V tabletop with spine prep and glue
This Bourg BB1001 is a one-owner well-functioning recently-used machine available inexpensively due to liquidation of the local book printing/binding operation. manuals. Including a shop manual are included as well as about 30# of glue. The binder is about ten years old and has functioned well. Perfect for a small on-demand book operation. Note the scanned specifications in the graphics. This is one of the least expensive binders providing in-line spine preparation to assure a good bind. The BB1001 has an incorporated vacuum system to keep the system clean of paper powder. Glue pot and spine temperature have been identified as critical to achieving a good bind. A separate GBC 2000XT jogging hot-plate(included) has been useful for in-line treatment of the book block before binding. Bourg describes an operating cycle up to 200 per hour. My ... moreexperience has been that about 60 ordinary paperbacks per hour is more realistic for one operator with ordinary-size-paperbacks. 5X8 to 8.5 X11, 200-500 pp. the Binder is described as a"table-top" model. But weighs about 350# So it includes the heavy-duty Bourg stand and, with this low price, it would not be economical to ship it, so local pickup(free) is required. One of the nice things about this model is that it uses less than 10 Amps at 120V AC. So is perfect for a small operation. and can be placed flexibly in the shop. If you seriously want a good quality small-volume binder, don't let somebody else take this bargain.
