Bookbinders Book Cutting Plough This auction is for a beautiful vintage bookbinders plough. Used to cut the edges of books whilst held in a laying press You can see from the photos that this is a very lovely piece which still is very useable. Not sure of the age, it has a manufacturers mark- Hampson and Bettridge& Co Ltd, London NW1 The cutting blade is held in place by tightening the lovely old brass nut which sits on a brass plate on the top of the block All dimensions are as follows: The blocks of the plough are 9 inches(228mm) by 4&1/2 inches(114mm) and are 1& 3/4(44mm) inches thick The turned handle is 5& 1/2 inches(139mm) from the edge of the block The screw thread is 10 inches(253mm) from the edge of the block The square wooden guides are a little longer at 10&1/2 inches(267mm) The blade is 6 1/4 inches(158mm) long(plenty ... moreof use left there! Bookbinding Band Nippers This auction is for a set of leather band nippers As you can see these band nippers look brand new. If they have been used then they have been kept in really good condition They are really well made. I do know a little bit about engineering and these have been made with really good tolerances, they have a really good action and there is a metal collar which keeps the handles together when stored, there is a metal spring arm that opens the nippers when in use, the letters on the side are probably the manufacturer and Im sure someone out there will know who they are and where they are based(and if they are still made and for how much) They are 150mm from the tip of the handles to the top of the flat edge of the nippers. Brass Edged Wood Bookpress Book Press for Bookbinding Flowers Binding Tapes
Brass edged Bookpress in nice used condition. Dimensions: Overall is 15" w x 10" d x 1 3/4" high(not including bolts) Dimensions in between bolts are 12 1/2" side to side. 7 1/2" front to back. Constructed of 3/4" thick 5 ply plywood. Bolts are 3/8" diameter x 5 3/8" tall with wingnuts. There are a few scuffs and divets on the top. And the brass edges do not align exactly Otherwise in very good condition. Please see photos.

DE LACY BOOKBINDING GILDING FINISHING TOOL - CORONET or CROWN - 31mm
The item for sale is a bookbinding finishing tool- the tool is approx 31mm wide- there are some cracks and scorching to the front of the handle and there is play in the handle but you have to use force to feel it. Stamped De Lacy and was made c1852-1919. Will be posted using a cardboard tube or box. This is part of an antique collection of bookbinding tools that i will be selling over the coming weeks and will combine postage where possible and will be done on combined weight as it works out a lot cheaper than giving a% discount- on the smaller items typically the 2nd item purchased of a similiar size works out 50% or less. Please be aware that they have wear.Oxidisation,burnt handles etc commensurate with age and use with the tools and printing plates etc coming from the long gone old JC Player of Soho London bindery etc( see below for more ... moredetail) some of the tools i have cleaned up as they were so black you could not make out the makers names and patterns- so please study the photo(s) to satisfy yourself to the condition as they are being sold a seen.
