Fine 19th Century Decorative Gold Finishing Tool by Royle in Gothic Style
I offer for auction an original(not recast) early brass finely engraved ornamental hand tool for use in Gold finishing on quality books. The tool is stamped ROYLE who was George Royle& Son who worked in London from 1831- 1906. From the Gothic Style of the ornament I would place it around the 1850s. The design is very nicely engraved. The tool is in good usable condition with a good old handle-a little scorched around the tool end. Size of the engraved face is approx. 17mm by 17mm. and it can be used as a centre tool if required. Although it is a versatile tool. A very collectable tool.

Antique 19th century Bookbinding gold leaf wheel 87mm diameter 3mm edge
Superb example of an antique 19th century bookbinders gold leaf wheel with intricate pattern. I believe the wheel is brass and is stamped Timbury. Fetter Lane, London, who was an engraver and bookbinding toolcutter from 1785 to 1884. The wheel runs freely and the tool is firmly set in a wooden handle which looks original.
