This type of holder is designed to hold type assembled into words to be stamped onto a surface. It is a combination brass holder with a carbon steel backing plate and spring loaded plate set into a hardwood handle. It is strong and secure. This standard spring type holder is a 4" holder although measuring it shows it to be just shy of 4 inches. This refers to the amount of type it can hold left to right. The type is then tightened into the holder by means of a thumb screw mounted at one end. As well as a spring loaded plate at the top. The backplate is made of steel and allows proper line of sight to determine the line on which the type will be printed. These typeholders are fully adjustable to take type from 8 point to 36 point. The metal backing plate as well as metal spring plate on top do show some signs of rust from non use which ... moreis typical of this type of product. Thumb screws are fully functional and serve to hold the type firmly in place from both top and side. The handle appears to be epoxied onto the brass frame with a heat resistant epoxy. The brass frame can be heated in order to imprint foil onto leather. It is in good working condition. Shipping to lower 48 states only. Self-centering brass type holder for bookbinding
This is a 4" self-centering(super-rapid" brass type holder. Used for bookbinding, original purchased from P&S Engraving in 2004. I used in a few times from 2004-2007, but it's been in storage since then as I'm no longer actively bookbinding. All the screws work smoothly, and it holds type with an iron-or brass-grip. All the screws are free. No makers name. Will be posted using a cardboard tube or box. BOOKBINDING GILDING FINISHING TOOL - 6mm BRASS PRINTING TYPE BLOCKS
The items for sale are brass printing type blocks that are in a good used condition but due to age and use are being sold as seen so please study the photos as they form part of the description- NO returns on these. The blocks are approx 6mm and There is NO B.E,J and S- approx. 58 blocks so only a part set. There is no box but the blocks will be wrapped in cardboard. Will be posted using a cardboard box. All the postage charges include the Tracked option to keep within the Ebay/Paypal guidelines. The item for sale is an Eliot bookbinding type holder that is in a very good used condition- the head will hold 8mm type upto 98mm wide- all measurements approx. The flash has made some areas of the image look orange when they are not as you can see in the close up shots- does have machining marks evident which will not affect its use.
