1975 Fender Jazz Bass OHSC Maple Blocks Binding 70's Funk Machine
This is a 1975 Fender Jazz bass. It is an old. Beat-up 70's Jazz bass that has been brought back up to gigging condition. It has that road-worn/relic look and feel that so many people desire, and it got there the old-fashioned way. It is mostly original as far as I can tell. Except for the points noted in this description. I an unsure about the finish on the body. It is in such a"road-worn/reliced" condition that it might be original, it might have been touched up, or maybe it is an old refinish. I honestly cannot tell. It has newer larger frets that have been recently dressed. It has a newer nut. the pickups are stock, but the bridge pickup was not working when I got the bass. It had straplocks on it when I got it, and I put a set of new Fender vintage style buttons on it. It has since been rewound, and works perfectly. The ... morepots, caps and jack are original. It comes with a nice period-correct case(all latches work) It comes with a black Fender brand reissue 70's pickguard that fits it too. It looks like a black leather jacket with the black guard on it. Forget about reissues and relics. Get a real usable piece of Fender history at a fair price.

The machine is as far as I can see in good order structurally but has decorative damage as a result of age related wear and tear. All the relevant parts move although I am not sure how it works. The handle is a soft material not wood and again I am not sure of its construction. It is a combination brass holder with a carbon steel backing plate and spring loaded plate set into a hardwood handle. It is strong and secure. This standard spring type holder is a 4" holder although measuring it shows it to be just shy of 4 inches. This refers to the amount of type it can hold left to right. The type is then tightened into the holder by means of a thumb screw mounted at one end. As well as a spring loaded plate at the top. The backplate is made of steel and allows proper line of sight to determine the line on which the type will be printed. These typeholders are fully adjustable to take type from 8 point to 36 point. The metal backing plate as well as metal spring plate on top do show some signs of rust from non use which ... moreis typical of this type of product. Small Italian Roman Catholic prayerbook with silver back. Front and spine. This has no hallmark but I have tested it and guarantee it is solid silver. There is a mark in the bottom back corner which may be a hallmark I am unfamiliar with, see photo. The front has a round panel with an image of the Holy family and saint Anne'Ave Maria' is written under this. There is space inside a scroll for initials of the owner. This is blank. The rest of the panel. The spine and the back are all in the classic Renaissance Italian style.This features scrolls flowers and leaves. There is a further space for initials on the back. The prayer book is inscribed ... moreinside and was given as a gift to Alberto on the occasion of his first communion by Nonna Mariangela in 1927. I do not know if the silver was made in 1927 or before. The book was published in 1904. On close examination the damage is superficial and could easily be repaired. I could do it myself and any fairly skilled person could. I have not touched it as I want to leave the new owner with the choice of taking to a book binder or maybe using the silver for making another book The inside book is in good condition for its age. The endapers are OK. Between the endpaper and the cover has been a linen piece that covered the back, front and spine, this has held the book together and acted as a hinge. The linen has perished at the front. All that is needed is to dismantle- replace the linen and put back together. A lovely thing with some history. Size 12 cm high 6.5 cm wide 2cm deep. Here we have something that is a bit unusual and that would be a creaser a tool used by Bookbinders and others to form a line in the leather. This tool was in with lots of other Bookbinding tools I bought years ago and I am sure it was used in that trade though could be used by other leather workers as well. Measures about 12 inch overall with about 8 1/2 inch of that being it's old wooden handle. Handle is good but does have some burn marks on the end where the iron was heated prior to use.
