The stepper motor may be applied to any axis of a CNC-ready Sherline machine that has stepper motor mounts already installed. It is designed to work with Sherline inch machines only at this time. The linear motion controller has its own keypad and built-in computer. It comes with its own power supply. A#23 frame size stepper motor, connecting cable and complete instructions. An 8-pin mini-DIN cable can be used to connect multiple units in a"daisy chain" The units can signal each other to work in sequence, allowing multiple movements to be accomplished without the use of a computer or master CNC controller. They can also be used in conjunction with existing CNC controllers. The controller is user-programmable with two separate programs of up to 40 operations(blocks) each. In each block you can control distance, direction, speed and whether the program pauses or proceeds to the next block. The linear controller can also be"daisy chained" with Sherline's rotary controller(P/N 8700) to achieve combinations of rotary and linear movement in sequence. This makes it easy to set up for relatively sophisticated operations like cutting gears without having to know anything about CNC programming beyond what is entered from these simple keypads. Excellent Sherline 4400 lathe. Brand new Motor and Speed control
This Sherline lathe is in Great condition and works perfectly. The bed and headstock assembly are used but very clean and most other things are new. It has a brand new. Never used motor and Speed controller assembly including the mounting bracket and guards. Also brand new are all these things: Crosslide assembly, gib, Spindle pulley, motor shaft pully, drive belt, handwheels, lead screw, tool post, cutting tool, face plate, Jacobs Chuck and key, spare headstock spindle and pulley, spare lead screw assembly with handwheel and Gib, drive dog, and tailstock centers. It also comes with a second unique interchangeable motor with a low RPM gearbox and speed controller with forward and reverse switch. I don't know exactly how many RPM's are max with this setup but it is very low with high torque, and having forward and reverse is a nice ... morefeature too. This assembly works perfectly also. Includes the Sherline Assembly and Instruction Guide, Allen wrenches, a Sherline accessories catalog and the original box. There is no Tailstock with this lathe but everything in the photos is included. I believe the tailstock assembly and one collet closing lever are the only things missing from the original kit. Sherline CNC Lathe 4410C
This is a Sherline 4410C metric lathe and the contents of the'C' component package including threading tool. Compound slide, live center, steady rest, A2Z quick change tool post& holders, center drills, jacob chuck, and others. Also included are the vertical milling attachment, DRO and CNC controller. I purchased this lathe as a manual and installed the DRO but after some time I decided I wanted to try it as a CNC. I purchased and installed the Sherline CNC conversion kit and paired it with a Mach 3 compatible Hobby CNC Pro(4 axis) controller and Hobby CNC steppers. I ran the lathe minimally. I've made maybe 10 parts on it. Being that I converted it to CNC the DRO isn't useful for tracking the axis movement. I'm only using it for the RPM readout. You can see in the pictures. However, that the additional DRO axis sensors ... moreand dials are included. I seem to have lost the manual lead screws so if you wanted to convert it back to manual you'll need to source those. Notice the closeup photo of the vertical milling column. The way is nicked. looks like it fell over onto something. This can be dressed out with a file and will work fine. Handwheel from a Sherline 1000 Machine, Lathe, Mill, Handle, Knob
Up for your consideration is a Handwheel from a Sherline 1000 machine. The mounting hole is 1/4” and it has 0-50 on it for graduations. This is a used handwheel in very good condition. The main body of the handwheel is made of aluminum and the little bat handle is made out of brass. This handwheel may fit other Sherline stuff. But I do not have that knowledge, sorry. Sherline Lathe Motor WM 12R
About 9 years ago I bought a Sherline Model 1000 lathe and it was powered with this motor. Early on I decided to change to a PWM controller and PMDC motor so this guy became surplus. The lathe is shown in the last picture(not included with this motor) I came across the motor last week and fired it up and it ran pretty well. I put some oil in the bearings and ran it no load for 10 minutes and it was barely warm to the touch. So the duty cycle is still pretty long. The speed control also works as it should. The dial is not the right one but it was on the motor when I bought the lathe. The face mounting is correct fot the Model 1000. The brushes look good too. That's the good stuff. This guy is not pretty. And like all series wound motors it is a little noisy, it rattles a bit, and there is a small piece of plastic missing from the corner ... moreof the controller. If you are restoring an old Sherline 1000 and the motor is dead, or even uglier than this one, here you go.
