Because of the shallow angle of the Morse#1 taper when the drawbolt is tightened. Greater clamping force can be applied when compared to the clamping pressure of WW collets; therefore, we recommend the use of these milling collets for holding miniature size end mills(3/16" or 1/4" shank) 1 and smaller center drills or Dremel bits(1/8" shank) and other small cutters. The set consists of a 1/8" 3/16" and 1/4" mill collet, drawbolt and thrust washer. Cutting tools held by these collets must have a shank size withing.001" of the manufactured size. Because of the shallow angle. These collets will not loosen from the spindle without backing the drawbolt off a couple of revolutions and tapping the drawbolt to free the collet. End mills must run true in order to cut properly. Small end mills or miniature size end mills are very expensive and can be easily damaged if milling is attempted using a drill chuck to hold the end mill. Sherline 4000 Hobby Lathe
Sherline 4000 lathe. This is an older Sherline lathe. Manufactured in November of 1977. It is in great condition for it's age. The bed of the lathe is made of brass and is in good shape other than a few nicks. I cleaned and adjusted the ways& the lead screws all work smoothly. The headstock bearings feel good and the rest of the lathe is in real nice shape with the black painted parts hardly scratched up at all. Includes a tailstock. A 3-jaw chuck, a tool post with a carbide tipped RH cutting bit. The lathe doesn't power up. I last used it about 3 years ago and it worked fine. I just tried to run the lathe and it won't come on. I don't know if it's the motor. Speed control, switch, or power cord. One day it worked the next time I plugged it in. It didn't. It could be a simple fix, I just don't know. I'm ... morenot very good at electricals, so I didn't even try to troubleshoot the problem. The lathe is mounted onto a piece of 3/4" Oak.

This item is part#5411-CNC and part# 3053 for the Sherline 5411 metric mill. It includes the stepper motors and the 6700 CNC upgrade kit. This is nearly a complete working mill minus the motor and the speed control. Both of which can be purchased from Sherline as part# 3306 for $320.00 or from ebay sellers. The#5411 and#3056 parts make up over 2/3rds of the parts needed for a mill and you can get it for less than 33% of the price of a new mill($1250.00) I previously sold the complete unit on ebay but it was destroyed by UPS in shipping to Florida and then returned to me. I am selling this as used but working condition.

Sherline 5000 Mini-Mill
This is a used Sherline 5000 mill. The table. Ways, and leadscrews are all in good condition. There is a 1/2" endmill holder and drawbar inclused, I think they may ne home-made. The spindle runs smooth at higher RPM's, but the motor gets a little jumpy at slow speed. This may be normal, I'm not sure. Becasue of that, I'm selling it AS-IS with no return. Selling this Sherline CNC milling system complete with motors and driver plus laptop(Panasonic toughbook with windows xp license) with CAM software and other extras which include a boring head. Draw bar with collet, jacobs chuck with key, fixing bolts and pieces to hold the parts on the milling table. Also there's some leaflets and schematics of the drivers and mill. I've powered it and hooked it to the laptop and all the motors work. Computer sends signal to them to move left right, up down, front back, but i think the mill might need cleaning/parts(leadscrews) as they sometimes get jammed and stop going forward. I believe it is a 2003 model with very little use. Much of what cut air in training, for our potential operators whom used it for learning before running our large machines. I do not know the holding torque rating of these motors or much about them except they are manufactured by Rapidsyn Division of American Precision Industries. The motors are made in the USA.
