This machine is in great condition and comes with all of the custom made guards and faceplates and tool holders that you see in the pictures. The S/N of the machine is 44017. I am not sure of the year. Looks to be 24" swing over the bed and approx 84" center to center. I know the Oliver had model 20 and then A. B, or C.I believe this one is the model C just by looking at the dimensions. Motor is 3hp/3ph unit and it had the disconnect on it and it says 480V. I believe it can be wired on 240V/3ph also. Lathe will turn 12" Diameter 24" Long and has the same tooling as the similar Yates or Oliver lathes. 1-1/8" 8tpi spindle with 2MT tapers. Lathe is 1/2HP 4 speed with no belts to change currently wired 240V. Has a 3" faceplate on it with screw center and the original multi position banjo. Oliver 51-A Pattern Lathe Carriage with compound and cap
This is a Carriage with compound and socket rest cap for an Oliver 51-A. It should fit other Oliver lathes of the same size. But to be sure, message me and we can discuss dimensions. The piece has some paint chipped off but has seen very little use. This thing is all iron and is not only heavy but no longer made. Up for auction is a nice original Oliver 20 lathe. It may be what is called a pattern makers lathe. Everything spins freely. The motor has not been tested. But when last hooked up, it worked. It is a 2hp 440 3 phase. This machine originally came out of Kodak in Rochester, NY. It has always been stored inside a heated shop. Can load onto your trailer but no shipping. The middle of the stand is bent some from previous handling. When we set the speed knob to the slowest setting it immediately started up and spun up to the appropiate speed. We tested all 4 speeds and they all worked properly. The only issue we found was that the motor did seem to be making some bearing noise. Both sides of the motor feel tight. But you can feel some of the unevenness as ... moreyou turn the motor over.
