Vintage Delta Model 37-207 6" Jointer & Cast Iron, Art-Deco Stand
This auction is for an older Delta jointer with a very desirable cast iron base. The unit is very clean but is in need of a switch to make it functional. The motor is not original. It is a 3/4 hp. Dual voltage, A.O. Smith. The belt/pulley guard is cast into the backside of the base. Knobs, screws, nuts and bolts appear to be the originals. To the best of my knowledge, and after looking it over carefully, I have found no cracks or chips in the iron. The machine comes from a dry environment so the inner base is clean. The Saturn ball on the fence adjusting handle is metal not the commonly seen plastic. I am listing this as a"local pick-up" however, if the seller wishes to make their own shipping arrangements, I would be willing to accommodate that. Thanks for looking.

Classic 1940 Delta Rockwell 6" Jointer Model 654 or 37-207
For sale is 1940(Ser. No. 1-1400) Delta No. 654 6" Jointer. It has a single phase. Repulsion-induction,1/2 HP, 110/220 V, 50 HZ,1425 RPM motor. The motor is set to run on 110 volts and when pluged into the current 60 HZ power system the motor runs at 1720 RPM. The jointer does work but needs to be cleaned and adjusted. The stand was sand blasted and repainted a few years ago so it doesn't need much. It doesn't have a belt guard, but that's typical of the older machines. I also have a 1940 Delta 14" band saw for sale. Powermatic 6" Jointer Powermatic jointer. 6" knives. Model 053. Cuts fine. But there is a nick in the knives. That is easily fixed by moving one knife over a hair. There is a stain on the cast iron top from a table leg that had a glue line that needed a little more time to dry. It does not affect the function in any way. It was cleaned off. But left a stain. Table surface is nice and smooth. Work pieces slide across with no problem. It is a little saw-dusty. But that happens to tools when you use them. I don't have the original manual. I have a printout of one I found online. It has a dust chute adapter on the side for connecting to a dust collector. Contact me if you would like to come see it in person before the auction ends. You are bidding on this dust chute you see pictured here. It came off a Delta jointer. Model 654(old style) Later, it acquired the model number 37-307. I do not have definitive proof that it is a stock item sold by Delta at the time(I looked for a little bit) but this doesn't look home-made because of the curved section at the top and the perfect folds in the sheet metal. It looks factory to me- perhaps a guy went to a metal shop and had it made? I have no way of knowing for sure. I will ship this via USPS Parcel Post.

There was still sawdust and chips falling out of it from recent use. Motor is 1/2 HP, 3 Phase, 1.67 A, 220 V, 60 Cycle, 3600 RPM. Bearings appear to be ok from hand turning. Fence is loose and may be missing a knob to lock it down; I think this could be overcome without much difficulty. Blades are in decent condition-few nicks near fence where use was heaviest. Rockwell/Delta 6" Jointer, 3 Phase, 220V/32AMP, Model 66-023, Series 37-220
I recently upgraded to a Boice Crane 8" jointer to match match my Rockwell/Delta 8" jointer. And I no longer need the six inch jointer. This works excellent, may need a new belt before to long. Table top is 42" long, left table is 22 1/4" right table is 18 1/4" Both tables move freely and drop back for easy access to change blades or adjust. Has a 4" dust port, was hardwired in, so it has no plug on the cable. Sits on a 16" x 17" base, 34 3/4" tall. It has a 3/4 HP 1725 RPM motor, 60 Cycle, 32 AMP 3 phase, wired for 200 volts. DELTA VARIABLE SPEED BENCH JOINTER 6 INCH Model 37-070 Extras
Obviously it's not a long bed floor model but for a bench model it works good. Only thing broke are the 2 adjust handles on the fence. They can be purchased for about 15 bucks each but I'm more than making up for it with 3 new sets of knives plus I just installed the set in the machine. I have used it since but for about 3 or 4 boards. Get yourself a small wet stone to take out small Knicks and make the knives last longer. One of the down sides of this and most bench jointers is the tables get oxidized. Then there is friction and the wood is hard to push through. A while ago I removed the tables and ran them gently through my big drum sander. They are now flatter than I think original. Then I hand sanded down to 1000 grit then polished on my buffer wheel. Then coated with(non wax) top coat which is a wood workers machine top sealer/ ... morecleaner. Prevents rust on steel tops like a table saw and prevents oxidization on aluminum/zinc tops like this. Check out the pictures. There is no wax to contaminate your wood but it's totally smooth and flat and no friction. For shipping I am removing and wrapping up the 2 tops and the fence The fence totally squares up with the top. I use a 6 inch machine square and it's perfect. I'll mark the 2 pieces right and left when facing the working side or front of the machine. Except for the 2 fence handles that an ex gorilla employee broke everything else is perfect. Because you really don't need to crank down hard on those handles I've just used pliers gently and it's worked fine so I never ordered new ones. Otherwise for the money it's a great machine. I installed a 4 inch dust collection chute because I try to control dust in my shop and this particular unit only had a rectangular opening which dumped the chips out to the left of the machine.
