Vintage 1946 Onen W2C Two Cylinder 2kw Generator – Wards Power Plant
Up for auction is what I believe to be a 1946 Onen generator– 2000 watt Wards Powerlite Electric Plant. My search on the internet come up with a photo of a 1945 model that looked identical– the serial number begins with“46” so I assume it is a 1946 model. I picked this up last summer with the idea of getting it running and then reselling it. I have been trying to get the two cylinder engine running but the electrical system was giving me nightmares so I gave up and am putting it up for auction. The hand crank engine turns over very nice(20 to 30 pounds of compression on each cylinder) the fuel pump is working– the carb is in good working condition– I had spark to the points– two 6v coils appear to be good. The electrical panel is where I am at a loss. There are too many old electrical parts and wires that I do not have any idea what they ... moredo or how to check them out. I believe the engine should run if someone knew how to check electrical. The entire unit looks like it was probably in a shed or garage for most of its life as it is not all rusted up and corroded. The brushes/contacts on the power plant look to be in very good condition like it has not had a lot of hours on it. The radiator has a small leak on the lower right corner. Both side brackets on the radiator are missing and the radiator cap is missing. It is presently on an old homemade makeshift trailer. Also included is: copy of a W2C Operating Manual; hand crank; the electrical box which looks to be complete; a cylindrical shaped gas tank(aprox. 5 gal. and the old cable with sheathing. 1925 Kohler Model D Generator Power Plant 1A2A
1925 Kohler Model D Generator 1500 Watt. 115 Volt, DC 4 cylinder Kohler gas engine I had hoped to see this unit run before I sold it. But decided to get ready to pay property taxes instead. The unit was completely disassembled, cleaned. And painted. I did not have the funds to have cylinder head work and new piston rings installed like I wanted. In my opinion. The valve seats have been ground too many times and are recessed too far. The engine may need new valve seats or a different head. The rings were removed. Pistons de-carboned, rings re-installed. The cylinders were lightly honed. Crankshaft journals were in nice shape. As were all bearings except one with a partial crack in the babbitt. But looked like it would be okay to use. I didn't bother trying to start it. As I don't think it has enough compression. I know that these are ... morelow compression engines. But my gauge only showed 30 psi. I'm pretty sure I got the timing marks lined up when I put it back together, but suppose that's a possibility for low compression. The magneto had spark when bench tested and spun with a drill. But see no spark when hand cranking the engine. It may need a condenser. Or perhaps it's not grounded due to the new paint. This Model"D" unit was originally an"Auto Start" unit, but the auto start control box was missing when I got the unit. It can be wire up as a Model"E" hand crank unit was. A Kohler Model E is shown in the brochure photo. Basically. All that would be needed to do so is an old style breaker box disconnect switch. Receptacle, and wire. I have a brand new shunt resistor that goes with the unit. The generator bell cover is missing as well. But would be functional without it. I can email the high bidder what literature I have for the unit. manual. Wiring diagram, brochures, etc. The same basic Kohler unit's were made from the early 1920's to the late 1940's. I have a winco power plant generator for sale. This generator is in great condition and is inside a garage and was used to power a house during power outages. Here is some info on the engine. It runs from 25,000- 65,00 wats, 25 kw, 120/240 volts, single phase, 60 Hz, 1800 RPM and can power the whole house. The model number is ps25hs-3r/blp if you want to look it up. I have a Winco Power Plant Generator that runs on propane gas. This is a nice unit and is in great working order. This produces single phase and 3 phase power. It appears to be a low hour unit. I have seen this on operation before it was uninstalled about 8 months ago. I bought to run some 3 phase equipment in my shop but have since decided to have power company run new power. I don't know a lot about this. I hired an electrician to convert mine so read the specs to determine if this suits your needs. I am located in West Lafayette. In 47906.
