Kohler 12RES LP or NG home stand-by Generator
What I have is a 2008 Kohler 12RES Liquid Propane generator. This unit will run on either natural gas or propane without any modifications. Simply change where the fuel is connected. I used this from 2008 till 2012 to charge my batteries. I live off the grid and for the first 6 months this was was only power till I added a solar array. I maintained this generator as needed. Changed the only every 40-50 hours. Air. Fuel filters changes as recommended. The generator has a small oil leak. Small enough so that between oil changes the amount of oil leaked is undetectable. Have not checked this out. The generator does something called"hunting. This is a rise and fall of the idle. I hired a local company to check it out and they said it will not cause damage and to live with it. Not very professional at all. It has run like that for about 200-300 ... morehours. I believe it is a small servo. Not a mechanic though. This has not effected the performance of the generator. It produces the electricity it says it does. It will need a new battery. The one in it works and is tired. You can use the battery to start the generator and check it out. There is NO AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH! No ATS! Didn't need it. Has a digital control panel with hours meter. I had this set up to start automatically with my solar system as needed. Reason for selling is I replaced this with a more efficient diesel generator. As I said. I live off the grid and need this to charge my batteries. I run the generator an average of 1-2 hours a day. I no longer want this in my yard. Better off letting it go so someone can use it. If bought in New England I will arrange to meet or deliver this to you. I will expect gas money. That is it.
