This is a model SP-HF-15 15KW 400Hz military diesel generator. With only 22hrs! Manufactured by Ho-lGar. Similar to the MEP-013, but had a single connector for a 20kW searchlight. The engine is a 4-cyl White Hercules D198ERX28 diesel. We obtained with a collection of equipment. It had been sitting for quite some time. We started on a full refurb. Primered some the covers, had the radiator cleaned, flushed the cooling system, new coolant and HD oil, replaced a few hoses, new thermostat gasket, replaced the fuel pump, found the starter motor brush assemblies are rusted(its a standard Delco 30-MT starter, parts are available) then ran out of time. It does crank. We have not started it. Ended up buying newer units for our 400Hz generator needs. Mfg in 1968. Documentation TM 5-6115-357-15. I was experimenting loading it and seeing how it would do. I inadvertently overloaded it and the safety did not trip and I damaged the gen head. MILITARY 15KW DIESEL GENERATOR MEP-004A & TRAILER RUNS GREAT NEW FILTERS
You are viewing a US military surplus diesel generator MEP-004A on a trailer. It is rated at 15KW with a minimum of 20 percent reserve so it will run 18K no problem. It is a 120/208& 240/416 volt 60hz 3-phase generator. You can set it for 120/208 and use the 3 120 volt legs as single phase or I have instructions to convert it to single phase and use the full power output. Power is connected via binding posts and there is a 120v convinience outlet by the control panel. I put new filters and fluids in it and it fired right up. I put a 50% load on it and it ran fine. I used an aux fuel line to draw diesel from an external tank and that worked properly. The engine still draws and returns from the main tank the aux fuel pump senses the main tank level and fills the main tank from the aux sounce when it senses the main tank is at 1/3. The gen ... moreshows 2406 hours on it and is very clean inside. Markings inside indicate it was serviced by the military in 2012. Everything appears to work properly. These generators are very durable and are designed for long run periods. It has a Whites 4 cyl diesel engine which is pretty efficient. Most people dont need more than a 15K gen, the larger gens have a higher fuel draw even running at partial power. You will need to get a pair of 12v batteries for it. I slaved it off my truck to start it. The trailer is in good condition, tires have plenty of tread. It does have a big, high pintle hitch, the average civ truck is too low to tow it. MQ Whisperwatt Diesel Generator 15KW
This unit Was removed from service a few years ago. It was a back up Generator that was very rarely used(729 hours) It is a diesel(Kubota) engine with a Denyo brushless Generator. The unit fires up immediately without fail and seems to be working as intended. There are no warning light and no smoke from the engine and it seems to have been meticulously maintained. It has a 150 gallon(estimated) fuel tank on the trailer and the unit is mounted on the trailer. The trailer and tires show minimal wear and its a little dusty from sitting but never the less a great unit. We have not tested the unit to its full potential but as stated it fires up and the gauges all work and it does power up. we have plugged in several loads and it all seems to be working correctly. Thank you for looking at my generator. This MB-19 diesel generator is a 1967 model military generator. It starts and runs fine. I have only used power from the convenience outlet. I am selling it. As it is far too big for my needs. It will need 2 12volt batteries to use, as I am not including those. It has low hours on the hour meter, though that appears to have been replaced at some point in time. The battery charging transformer has been removed, and I will included a separate battery charger that will run off of the 120vac outlet, or can be wired in. I have not wired this unit to anything from the junction box, as I don't have anything to wire to it. I couldn't find any data plates on this unit but was able to determine that the engine is a Mercedes OM636 four cylinder Diesel engine. In doing further research. It appears that it was used to power 15KW generators. Generator is a single phase 120\240 volt generator. Unit starts right up and runs great. Unit is enclosed and mounted on a trailer. You are looking at a 15KW(18KVA) prime power diesel generator service spare that provided standby emergency power at a mission critical AT&T voice and data relay station. The unit has 197 hours of operating run time and the meter is original. The engine is a 2.23 liter direct injected MWM Murphy 3 cylinder D202 series liquid cooled diesel engine. These are marine class propulsion engines and have legendary durability. Service life, and fuel economy. It is a super duty engine and the block is massive. The generator is a 15 KW LIMA type SER brushless AC synchronous externally regulated alternator and features damper bars inserted through the field laminations to limit harmonic voltage distortion. The generator is wired for 3-phase Y-connected 208 volt and will also simultaneously supply 120 volts loads in this configuration by using the ... moreneutral leg. The generator is a 12 lead hook up and can be reconnected for other voltages. The voltage regulator is a Basler Electric KR Model and provides 17 millisecond response time and less than +/ 1% regulation accuracy over full range loading. It also has a stability adjustment to prevent hunting and oscillating. The auto-start and over speed controller is a Murphy HD-96063 dual speed switch and uses an OS-77 magnetic pickup tachometer against the starter ring gear teeth.
