This unit was placed in storage and had testing completed before being put in storage. Received new lift points. New fuel filter, new fuel strainer, oil change, oil filter, and had been load tested. Unit passed all checks: mechanical, visual, and electrical by military personnel before being put in storage. Also received CARC military paint job. This paint is bio/chem, stratch, light impact resistant and acts as a preservative making the unit easily be decontaminated if necessary. Only thing this unit needs is two batteries(24v system so it needs 2 12v batteries) and possibly clean the fuel tank out(wouldn't hurt) If no one purchases the unit as is, then I will probably fix these issues, but the price will go up as well. Miltary MEP-006a 60 kw Diesel Generator It was started and load tested about 2+ years ago before purchase. It was tuned up by a professional at that time. It was started again recently by me but I am not educated on all the operational procedures and it powered down because the fuel switch was switched to aux instead of the main on board tank. We restarted and it ran for a while and we worked the throttle. It was louder than anything. But I am not sure how to operate it and it shut down after a while. It may need to be looked at by someone who is familiar with it and probably needs an oil/filter change. The fuel is nice and clean, no rust coming out of the both primary and secondary filter draincocks. Needs someone who understands it and is willing to do the maintenance as needed to the unit. We purchased it a few weeks ago along with several other units that we needed but currently have no use for this size generator! Generator was not sold because of any problem or issue, simply replaced by the City with a newer unit. It will crank on its own power(new batteries) and is in excellent running and operating condition, cranks right up, engine, generator, etc. all work properly. This unit is very good, almost perfect, excellent condition, really nice for the year and what it is, the City stored it inside the fire department and cranked/ran regularly. The only negative thing to say is a few spots on one side of the fender/standing area has some paint chipping and the front around the hitch has a few scratches, other than that the unit is extremely nice! You are buying it to crank up and operate, will fire right up and produce power~ We purchased it like you see it, didn’t even have to clean it, at some point the City painted it red for the fire department but other than that everything else is believed to be original~ The photos were taken the same day

It has a Whites 4 cylinder diesel engine. I bought it surplus I was going to use it for myself. I put all new fluids and filters in it and it fired right up. I was experimenting loading it and seeing how it would do. I inadvertently overloaded it and the safety did not trip and I damaged the gen head. You are viewing a US military surplus diesel generator MEP-004A on a trailer. It is rated at 15KW with a minimum of 20 percent reserve so it will run 18K no problem. It is a 120/208& 240/416 volt 60hz 3-phase generator. You can set it for 120/208 and use the 3 120 volt legs as single phase or I have instructions to convert it to single phase and use the full power output. Power is connected via binding posts and there is a 120v convinience outlet by the control panel. I put new filters and fluids in it and it fired right up. I put a 50% load on it and it ran fine. I used an aux fuel line to draw diesel from an external tank and that worked properly. The engine still draws and returns from the main tank the aux fuel pump senses the main tank level and fills the main tank from the aux sounce when it senses the main tank is at 1/3. The gen ... moreshows 2406 hours on it and is very clean inside. Markings inside indicate it was serviced by the military in 2012. Everything appears to work properly. These generators are very durable and are designed for long run periods. It has a Whites 4 cyl diesel engine which is pretty efficient. Most people dont need more than a 15K gen, the larger gens have a higher fuel draw even running at partial power. You will need to get a pair of 12v batteries for it. I slaved it off my truck to start it. The trailer is in good condition, tires have plenty of tread. It does have a big, high pintle hitch, the average civ truck is too low to tow it. Up for sale is an almost new Fermont MEP-831A Diesel Inverter Generator. I purchased this 6 months ago with the intention of making it a home backup power source.but since then I have realized that I do not have the skill or ability to get it running. I purchased this at an auction and it is in NON-RUNNING CONDITION! There are parts missing and it needs to be put back together. As you can see from the photos.it has only 6 hours of run time and since it came from California,it is a rust free unit. FYI- I could not get the engine to turn over, it might be frozen or perhaps the compression release is not engaging- I'm not sure. Here is a military surplus 10kw(military rating) generator with only 2.9 Hours on the meter! Not since a rebuild. But TOTAL. Manufactured Feb 1989 by Libby Corp. The intake and exhaust as well as the battery terminals were taped and sealed shut with military looking duct take and plastic. The fuel tank and crankcase were tagged as being empty and to fill before operating. Starts and runs like it should. Took a couple minutes to get the air out of the lines and smoked a little first few seconds on the first start. But after that no smoke other than normal black smoke when reving up to operating speed from idle. Set on 120/220 and gauge indicates these voltages. Showing about 40lbs oil pressure after it warmed up, actually pegged the gauge(50 psi) when cold. Powered by a 4 cylinder air cooled Onan diesel engine. The military rating of 10Kw ... moreis probably very conservative. They usually rate their equipment to run at a percentage of it's actual potential. Assume this machines original intended purpose was for flight line powering of aircraft hence the 400Hz, but you should be able to run any resistive load such as lights and heaters. Probably other ways to use it. And in case you missed it, it's powered by an Onan diesel engine showing 2.9 Hrs as of this posting. 2005 15KW Diesel Military Generator MEP-004A 368 Hours
15KW Diesel Generator Trailer mound with 368 Hours. This unit has been completely rebuild in 2006 and has been on standby for emergency deployment. Why Diesel? This is a very good fuel for emergency standby or continuous duty use. RPM is only 1800 at 60hz the engine runs at low speed compared to gas engine. Diesel fuel can be stored for 100s of years and can fired right up with any problems unlike gas and propane what can evaporate and break down within a few months of storage. This unit can power single phase operation at 120-240 volts and it can also be wired for 380-480 volts three phase for industrial equipment. The MEP series generator is one of the toughest generator ever built. It can run continuous for months. We have one of these at our fish farm with over 4900 hours used for back up.
