Up for auction is my Kohler Electric Plant 25kw stand-by generator in running condition. This unit was used as a backup generator for a high school since it was installed new in the late 60's. During a renovation project the generator was removed and replaced by a larger unit. I purchased the machine from storage in 2012 with the intension of using it to power my home in case of a power outage. Since the time of purchase. The unit has been covered and started a few times a year. At this time I don't foresee having the machine installed in the near future, so I am offering it for sale. The specifics on the generator are: Model: 30R82 25kw/ 30kw standby) Amp: 86.8/104.2 120/208 volt 3 phase Natural gas/propane powered Hercules 4 cylinder engine RPM: 1800 547 hours runtime Since I am not familiar with the electrics of the is unit. The engine starts and runs 100% on a 20 pound propane tank. The generator was fully functional when it was removed and was in storage at time of my purchase in 2011. Since I don’t have a manual for this machine I am unable to check power output, but again this was functional when removed. Payment of $500 deposit is due within 3 days after the auction ends and the balance is due at time of pickup in 10 days. The generator is being sold as is. Where is, so ask questions before bidding. This unit is for pick up only in Hummelstown, Pa. no shipping is available. The generator weighs 1500 pounds and the buyer must have the means of loading and transporting. This auction is for the pictured Kohler Electric Light Plant Generator 1.5KW Model 1AH21. I got this from the original owners daughter. It was bought new and used at a cabin in the upper peninsula of Michigan. As you can see and hear from the video it runs great. Purrs like a kitten. The fuel pump needs to be rebuilt so I am running it from a fuel tank directly to the carburetor. This is also setup to run on propane. I am not sure where to test if it is producing power from so if anyone knows please let me know and I will test it. The generator was working great when it was removed from the cabin so I don’t see why there would be any problems. The batteries and cart it is sitting on is not included in this auction. Gentlemen. I have 2. antique Kohler Electric plants, 1. of them is not pictured. I need to explain a little bit about the situation. I contracted a job to clean up a huge property/estate. The generators are/were in one of the 5 shops on the property. I don't know much about them. I do know they aren't froze up, and they appear to have always been stored under roof. I was unable to get photos of the 2nd generator, I've still gotta alotta stuff to get out of the way to gain access to it. This generator could satisfy all of this medium sized hospital's power needs. Weekly and monthly maintainance. Along with satifactory yearly load and preformance tests were required of this generator. Engine is Cummins VT 12 700 GS Hour meter reads 385 Hrs This machine has not been repainted. All we did is wash it off. Machine had its own building on the complex witch we had to partialy dismantal to remove this approx 16.780lb piece of equipmem t. So while we where there" we got everything that even looked like it might go with it. 1940's - 50's Kohler electric plant generator, light plant runs antique vintage
This generator ran when I used it a few months ago. I have no reason to believe that it will not. However due to the age of the unit and some recent dealings with buyers who had unreasonable expectations of half-century old equipment and to head off people having unreasonable expectations I have listed it as for parts or not working. Please remember this generator is probably 60-75 years old. It is in good condition for its age but is best for someone who collects these or likes to tinker with old things. Please do not expect a new generator. Due to shipping weight and cost,There will be absolutely no returns or refunds on this item. The only thing that is broken on this is the kill switch(you have to choke it off) and one of the rubber feet is broken(I have the foot and will include it) made by Kohler of Kohler back in the 40's or 50's ... moreas near as I can tell from looking online. This little guy starts up on a couple pulls. The light lights up and all the electric connections work. Comes with a 20A lead cord with a few 120v plugs on it. I have run circular saws and other small power tools off of it. Never a problem with power draw. Please see the picture of the plate for all specifications Seems to be complete. The shut off switch is there but does not work so it needs to be choked off. Its heavy for its size. One of the rubber feet is broken off. But I have it. Should be an easy fix.
