These Jefferson mystery clocks were a product of the 1950's. They were the rage then and they have become very popular again. This one was manufactured August 14. 1957(photos 10& 11) These are called"mystery clocks" because the hand appear to move by themsleves since there is no visible gearing to move them. In reality. The minute hand is firmly attached to the glass and the glass itself makes one revolution each hour. The hour hand is geared in the back to the minute hand and it slowly rotates as the minute hand rotates. The glass dial measures 7-1/4" in diameter and it stands 9" high. The 24k gold finish on the clock is in good but not perfect ... moreshape. I installed a new motor and the clock runs quietely and keeps perfect time. It should be good for a couple of decades. This is a rather old working Diebold 11 jewel mechanical time delay movement. Movements such as this are used in time delay locks for safes and bank vaults. Which foil robberies by preventing the vault door from being opened until a specified amount of time has passed. Clocks don't get any more retro or art deco than this! Straight out of the 50's. Yet looks practically new! Two hands seemingly suspended in the center of a glass face somehow keep time, while not connected in any way, by any mechanical means to a motor of any sort. Just how on earth does it work? Well, that's why it's called a"Mystery" clock. Yet, keep time is does. Runs extremely silently. You'll never know it's in the room. The clock is stunning n every way, and is 100% original. Even the cord is original, yet is showing some minor age-related cracking. No marks on the glass face which allows the hands to seemingly float in mid-air. The clock was made in West Germany(stated on dial) Has a 30 hour GM mechanism(A-25-80) driven by three weights(375 grams each or about 2 lbs total and are included) and plays and cuckoos on the hour and half-hour. The song played is unknown to me and even though it is listed on the side of the clock, I can't read German so it is still lost to me. The music mechanism is made in Switzerland. Antique New Haven Whitney 8 Day Half Hour Strike Banjo Pendulum Clock RUNS
This lovely antique New Haven banjo clock is running and chimes but needs some cosmetic work. Here are the discrepancies: the crystal is missing. The veneering on the circular housing has some cracking and surface wear, the dial needs cleaning, there's a small crack in the wood on bottom, the brass ladder on the right side is loose at top and the piece on left has a crimp. On the bright side, the glass is undamaged, the eagle has some finish rub but it's undamaged and solid, the key and pendulum weight are included and in nice condition, and the original paper company tag is on back. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys unique fixer uppers and a beautiful clock besides. Vintage Jefferson Golden Hour clock. Unit runs. But does not keep accurate time because the hour hand gearset is not 100% frictionless. i.e. it will run great for 30 minutes, then a speck of dust will catch the counter weight and cause it to flip over. Clock is very early in the production run. The stamp on the base dates it to 1951. Heavy patina on the dial and hands. Base only has a slight patina. This listing is for a 30 hour musical clock. Yes it looks like a regular cuckoo clock but it is not and never was. It DOES NOT CUCKOO. It will play two tunes on the hour and the 1/2 hour as the little dancers turn on the platform and that is all it does. Well…it does show you what time it is. This is the only one of these clocks I have ever seen and I have see a zillion clocks. It is quite old. You can see it has a count wheel movement. Inspection doors and the very old style hooks to hold the top. The back door is solid wood. I do not see any plywood in the clock. My best guess is that the clock is late 1800s. I have just cleaned it by ultrasonic, oiled(with the best synthetic oil) and adjusted the clock. The clock runs great and sounds very good. The clock is a good size at 19 and 1/2 inches high, 13 inches wide and 7 inches deep. Vtg Jefferson Golden Hour Mystery Clock A great looking Deco styled Jefferson Golden Hour clock from the 1940s-50s. It's in very good condition and runs quietly. But loses 6 hours every 24. The glass is very clear with one light diagonal scratch about 1" long near the outside. The golden metal has some tarnishing. A couple of bits of green corrosion in the back, on top. The base plate is maroon plastic, with a patent number on it. I'm told these can be serviced. The clock is being sold as it is. For repair or display. Jefferson made an interesting line of Mystery clocks. Where the way they run isn't obvious. The Golden Hour clocks have the whole glass face rotate, with the minute hand fixed to it. Vintage electric meter lamp. Watt hour meter. The lamp works and the meter runs while the light is on and stops when the light is off. It is 19" tall to the top of the harp, the base is 8" wide and 9" deep. The glass is% across. Great looking lamp and an unusual conversation piece. Jefferson Golden Hour gold mantel mantle clock restored rebuilt runs great!!
Up for auction is a beautiful restored Jefferson Golden Hour Clock. This one's a gem. Note the pictures. I restore many types of clocks but restoring Jeffersons is something I do a lot of. Every Jefferson Golden Hour that comes across my work bench gets the same treatment: the parts are disassembled and cleaned, the glass deep-cleaned and re glued to the main drive gear, I clean the glass again and treat it with RainEx. I rehab the gearbox on the motor and lube the motor bearings as well{I have a customized long oiler needle for that} I use costly high-tech synthetic oil, not the old school stuff that turns to varnish. Certain motors I work on will need new a new pinion gear{they crumble and decay} others may need a gear shimmed so it meshes at an unworn spot. The gear-track in the clock is cleaned and lined with premium ~5 mil adhesive ... moreTeflon tape in strategic locations, the clock's internal friction is reduced quite a bit and strain on the motor is reduced. The leaf springs are cleaned and checked, any bad ones are replaced. I clean the clock case& wax the clock with show-car wax and wipe with soft cotton. I see clocks on eBay that have been buffed, that is a no-no because it can remove some of the plating, then the wonderful 24K gold look is uneven, devaluing the clock} I run the clock a few weeks to be sure it's keeping proper time. Quite a few Golden Hour clocks show up on eBay saying they work. but"need adjustment" because they gain or lose time- there is no such adjustment. It means the clock needs work. Anyone who rebuilds these Jeffersons will tell you, most of them need it! A good rebuild should last quite a while; the glues and lubes are so much better now than in the 50s. Some of you may have seen my custom LED backlight arrangement for the Jeffersons. Upon request I can add some hidden LEDs and night-light your clock- I left this clock alone because it is SO pretty and some collectors would want it stock. Antique Ansonia Peg Leg Simplex Automatic 8 day 24 Hour Alarm Clock Runs
This clock looks very old and is not in the best condition. The nickle plating is tarnished on the case and surface rust is present on the back. The dial has brown spots. The good news is that I see no cracks in the case and it started to tick when I wound it. If you intend to run the clock I imagine it will need cleaning and oiling. An interesting feature I noticed is a pointer that indicates whether the clock is adjusted to ring long alarm or short alarm. The features a 24 hour sub-dial to set the alarm. The clock is about 6 1/4 inches tall and about 5 inches in diameter. It weighs 1 pound 12.6 oz. The alarm does work.

Oiled( with the best synthetic oil) and adjusted the clock. The clock runs great and sounds very good. The clock is 9" high, 7" wide and 5" inches deep. It is very good condition. Clocks are my hobby and I do enjoy working on them but I simply have too many and must sell some off. As with anything mechanical that goes through shipping, it may need some minor adjustments after shipping. I take extra pains with packing and I am available if you need any help. Vintage Black Forest Cuckoo Clock Complete Runs Keeps Time 24 Hour
My grandmother bought this clock in 1958 from a clock shop in Running Springs. CA. It kept time in her breakfast room from 1958 until her death in 1985; since then it has been stored. I put it up in my garage to test its operation(and not hear it. It keeps time perfectly, but I think the cuckoo seems faster than I recall. I recall a dong-cuckoo, dong-cuckoo cadence. It now goes cuckoo,cuckoo very rapidly. Maybe it needs cleaning-I can guarantee that in its 27 years of use, it never got cleaned. The case is in good condition-no cracks. It is about 8" wide and 11" long. I am not a cuckoo clock person. I hope someone out there will buy this clock and use it and love like it my grandmother did.

HARD TO FIND 1880s Seth Thomas Ship’s Clock 30 Hour External Bell RUNS & RINGS
Here for your bidding pleasure is a HARD TO FIND“first run” not the patent dates of 1878. 1879 on the dial and he special seconds hand register dial) of the Seth Thomas“One Day Lever” Ship’s(Wall) Clock that was made up through the 1940s! This clock winds the chimes and time smoothly and this watch ran between 1 and 2 minutes slow over the 24 hours that I tested it hanging on my wall. I do not have a really good key for it so no key comes with it unless I find one between now and auction end. This clock has the ORIGINAL board with over half of the original ST decal intact. Toward the bottom of the board there seems to be the address of a jeweler’s store(it only has a name and street address and no town) and date in the 1910s. I am not sure how long the“first run” of these Ship’s clocks lasted for Seth Thomas but suffice it to say it started ... moreright before 1880. The clock measures right around 6 inches diameter and seems to have a nickel or nickel clad case. The case finish and the bell are in decent shape- I do not see any damage. Right now the glass over the dial is dirty and should be cleaned up. As you can see. This is an original 130+ year old dial and it has some general wear and paint surface cracking but remains presentable. This clock rings“ship’s bells” not standard clock chimes. I am not sure what the chime pattern means but it’s definitely different than usual. The clock rings at the top and bottom of each hour. Please see the video that I have provided of this actual clock ringing when I move the hands to the bottom and then top of the hour. Not sure what else to say about this one- a small timekeeping error but the“slow-fast” adjustment lever is right in the middle and could be used to adjust most or all of that away. I would really test the clock for another few days of run time to see if it’s going to have a consistent timekeeping error or not before making any adjustments. NO RESERVE! There is normal wear on the dial and the reverse painting. But the reverse painting is mostly intact as seen in the photos. Small sections of the veneer is missing as seen in photos. But it does not take away from the beauty of the clock. The case overall is in good condition; but wood is split in the back in several spots. Most of the original paper on the back wall of the clock is still intact as seen in photos and reads"Waterbury Clock Company Waterbury. ANTIQUE INGRAHAM STRIKING CLOCK MOVEMENT - LONG DROP - HOUR STRIKE ONLY - RUNS
Antique Ingraham long drop striking clock movement. Most likely for a wall clock. Please note that it only strikes on the hour- there is no half hour strike. Has been cleaned and oiled by a friend who had it on the test stand for several days. It runs and keeps time but will probably need to be readjusted when cased up. Plates ares 5-1/8" high and 3-1/2" wide and 1-1/2" deep. Pendulum length is 18-1/2" from the hand shaft to the end of the pendulum adjustment. This listing is for an one day cuckoo clock. This is a typical cuckoo clock. It cuckoos on the hour the number of the hour and once on the 1/2 hour. I have just cleaned by ultrasonic. Oiled( with the best synthetic oil) and adjusted the clock. The clock runs great and sounds very good. The clock is 12 high, 9 wide and 6 inches deep. It is very good condition. This clock is a bit unusual in that it is marked Seth Thomas. Also just for my own enjoyment I replaced 4 bushings in the movement that were worn. I normally do not bush cuckoos but this was such a nice old movement I felt it was worth while. The top is not original but it does look nice. This clock will last you many years of good service. Clocks are my hobby and I do enjoy working on them but I simply have too many and must sell some off. They keep this old man busy also. July 19th, 1892 Serial# 34156 stamped near winding arbor. Running 100% Please realize with any antique timepiece, they may not keep quartz time and this is being sold as-is. The number of the hours, it will also play a nice pleasant little tune called"Blaue Donau. I have just cleaned by ultrasonic, oiled( with the best synthetic oil) and adjusted the clock. The clock runs great and sounds very good. The clock is 11 inches high, 11 inches wide and 5 inches deep. It is very good condition; the picture shows the movement and bellows. Both the bellows have new tops. I used a very special plastic material to replace the old paper material for the bellows. The bellows will last many many years.
