The unit appears to be in excellent physical condition with little sign of deterioration or wear. It was originally manufactured in 2007 based on dates on some parts. The unit does not appear to have an hour meter but my guess is it has virtually no use since it was rebuilt. The paint on the engine looks like it is almost brand new. The data plate on the engine has a September 2010 date as well. This is a 5KW self contained ex-military 2 cylinder. Air cooled ONAN diesel generator MEP002. It has been well maintained and runs great. This unit is the more desirable model that will produce standard household power at 60HZ(Some models are for aircraft and cannot be used for house power backup) It can also be used for 3 phase power This unit is very heavy duty and is designed to run 24X7 using very little fuel. I have a nice MEP-002a 5KW Military Diesel Generator. It runs and generates electricity all day and night. A very heavy duty type generator. These are not anything like those cheap Lowes or Home Depot generators. This one is mounted on a trailer comes with the rails for a cover. Tires are almost new. It has around 1400 hours on it. This is a running tactical quiet generator. It is in nice shape and comes with an M116a3 trailer.It is running and generating power in the pictures.It has 55 hours on the Hobbs meter. Injectors were cleaned and tested. Batteries are new, Changed the fuel, air, and oil filters. Manufactured 10-97. Located in Kentucky just 15 miles south of Cincinnati Ohio The trailer is in serviceable condition- I towed it ~120 miles to get it home. Surge brakes are in the same condition as when I got the trailer- they are not functioning and need to be bled at least- it does have a new master cylinder. Light bulbs are converted to 12 volt with a four pin flat connector that fits your truck. I only changed the bulbs and left the original military fixtures for that military look. While I have clocked around a dozen hours on the generator to make sure it is ... moreworking properly. It is a military surplus unit and I am selling it as is. This 5kw diesel generator is built“military tough” and will run almost forever. This is the type of unit you want for dependable steady power. This air cooled diesel engine is rated at 9 horsepower at only 1800 rpm. There is no coolant to change, leak, or freeze. It has redundant electric fuel pumps and a master mechanical injector pump. FOR SALE One of the Original Battery mount racks off a MEP-002 5KW Generator that was mounted up to a M101A1 Trailer The tan portion is the base mount. And the black painted rack is the top, comes with the 2- J Bolts. These parts are all intact and as you can see are in very good shape. Many of these were discarded ect. not to common to find these. These parts can be used in other applications as well. Although this is the correct ones used on these sets.This mount will only fit the one of 2 batteries used. It appears to have been originally built in 2008 based on the dates on it. It is clean inside and appears to have had little use. Completely rebuilt by government contractor in 2010. This is a diesel powered 24 volt DC generator(APU) used by the US Military in the M577 personnel carrier and the M-1068 mobile command post. It was built to withstand extreme weather conditions. It was built to operate on a moving vehicle and can withstand vibration while operating. It powered on board electronics on a moving vehicle so it was built to a very high standard unlike other generators. The military values this unit at $31.000.00. It is extremely well built with a German made Farymann ... moremodel 43F 703cc single cylinder diesel engine. This unit is designed to run at a constant speed to provide a constant voltage but could be modified to run at a higher speed if desired. It is extremely quiet and runs at only 1800 rpm. It is rated at 70 db at 23 feet. It could be used as an emergency alternate charging source for wind turbine and solar applications. Since it is already DC it would not require an inverter to recharge solar or wind turbine batteries. The alternator is a custom built american made Neihoff brand. The company web site for the alternator rates it at 280 amps so it may be capable of producing far more power than rated. The military rating of 5KW is at 28 VDC 180 amps at 4000 feet altitude and 125 degree temperature.This engine is extremely efficient and quiet and can be run without sound screening in residential locations. Military MEP-802A 5KW Diesel Generator 60HZ 120v 240v 208v Single & Three Phase
2005 MEP-802A 5KW Generator set 2 cylinder diesel 7 hours on hour meter(this is the hours it has run since it was refurbished in 2010) Was government refurbished in 2010. Engine was REPLACED(as shown by data plates on engine and back of unit) during refurbish in 2010. I just installed two brand new(group 51) batteries in it. A fresh oil filter and oil, and fresh coolant. I also always add a'tractor' flapper on the exhaust outlet, the original exhaust flap is included but they are prone to getting stuck'up' which allows the engine to fill with rainwater. The generator runs great and outputs power properly. This is a"5" KW generator. But as with everything military, they are always rated well below the power they will actually support. This is NOT like a typical civilian genset, it will maintain 5kw output indefinitely ... morewithout overheating or shutting down. It would probably support 7500kw easily and support spikes of over 10kw, but I cannot guarantee that. It could easily run a house if you made sure to not run high consumption items all at once. For instance. A generator is normally rated by the HP of the engine, a MEP-803a(10kw) is rated at 24hp. 24x.746=17.904, which means that 10kw generator would really support about 17-18 kw(it has been proven that the mep-803a WILL maintain 15kw without issue) If you have any questions feel free to message me. The ONLY problem I need to address for the keen-eyed viewer is the oil pressure sending unit is missing/plugged. I will have a sender installed before sale. I put a mechanical gauge on it for testing and it was fine. These generators have automatic shut-off for if they overheat. Lose oil pressure, or run low on fuel. You can also plumb in an auxillary fuel line to keep from having to fill the tank every 7 hours or so(5 gallon tank) If you are looking for a MEP-803a I have a couple of those for sale as well(not listed.
