Lock is a forged brass, horizontal rim latch in Baldwin's regular, lacquered, polished brass, finish. Lock has a passage latch which can be retracted by the knobs from either side of the door. Item description Antique P. F. Corbin bronze entry door lock. The general pattern of this lock was highly successful for Corbin. This set is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition with only the typical signs of wear and use. Although the design on the lock and door plates are often refered to as the"Ceylon" pattern. That name was limited to the knob design seen with this set. This set includes a matching strike plate that has been opened up a bit, but otherwise looks fine. The switch on the face plate of the lock allows the door to be closed in a prelocked position and the included latch bolt key is needed to properly utilize this feature. The set includes one bronze faced reversible entry mortise lock. The round escutcheon is 2 1/8" in diameter, the strike plate is 4 1/4" x 15/16" and the keyhole cover is 1 3/4" x 1 1/8" If your going to spend real money on a vintage lock set you should expect no broken or missing pieces. A look inside the lock box, pieces that have not been abraded and diminished by sand blasting and at a minimum the ability to make a return. The 2" diameter glass knobs are very good with no chips or cracks. The brass on the knobs have the old patina and will need polished if you want them shiny. The locks are in good working condition and have a dead bolt. 4 lock sets have the square shank key with 1 3/8" diameter key hole covers. 1 lock set has the key hole cover. But no key, and 1 lock set doesn't have a key hole cover or a key. The 2 1/4" diameter fibre rosettes that fit behind the knobs are in good condition with no breaks. But a couple of the rosettes do have a few chips where the knob seats. The plate on the lock measures 7/8" by 3 3/4" and 3/1/8" between screw holes. I have a very nice hard to find. Matching pair of large recessed slide bolts for your consideration. Floral geometric Eastlake patterning. Unsure of pattern and manufacturer. Slides work nicely and stay seated for engagement. Nice large Brass ornate knobs on each. Looks like the original copper Jappanning would clean nicely. Looks like some old varnish has protected it over the years. Original black paint is in nice condition. 1/2 inch round slide. Fabricating a catch wouldn't be hard since most any flat stock would work. Original plates are gone. Measures 8 x 1 3/16 inches. Corner return is 1 5/16 inches deep. This is a set of vintage cast iron pull spring door lock/latches. They measure about 34 1/2" from the end of the pull ring to the end of the latch itself. The latch part is about 3" wide. Condition is vintage used/poor in my opinion because of rust. The spring action seems to work fine and there are no cracks or breaks. They definitely need a good cleaning and probably a paint job. I bought this back in April 1982. I was told the wood was from old church pews. It's nice quarter sawn oak. With nice beveling around the door. Decorative cast iron Eastlake door lock set in the Windsor pattern by Reading Hardware Co. Circa 1880-90's. Includes pair of knobs. Pair of plates, mortise lock with matching striker and a working skeleton key. All pieces are in good condition. Lock works great. Latch and deadbolt are solid cast brass. Latch is reversible for use on left or right hung doors. Knobs feature a bronze ring. More matching sets are listed separately. This rare and unusual French Bronze Door Latch Bolt Lock dates I believe to around the 1880s or thereabouts. It is in full working order and the handle to the bolt has a delightful design of an Acorn. The mechanism works smoothly and the backplate measures approximately 4.5 inches high by approximately 4 inches across. It weighs around 351 grams and is marked with a cross keys foundry mark with the word"PARIS" between. A superb finishing touch to any Door.
