The actual room number it was in is written on the back of the sign in pencil. Has the Plaza name on the top of the sign. Frame has some white paint on the side from when the room was painted and sign was not removed. So it got some pain t along the edge. There is some light wear to the gold on the sides of the frame. Vintage Sliding Fire Door & Hardware Commercial Factory Antique Barn Door
1930's fire door 2-1/2" thick 68" wide 92" high on tall side 88" tall on short side. Manufactured by Willis in Galesburg IL. Around the 1930's UL Tags on the door. There is a counter weight attached by a rope to a pulley system that allows the very heavy door to slide open and closed with very little effort. In the event of a fire the rope burns off and the counter weights fall to the floor and the door will automatically slide closed. For sale locally so auction may end at any time if sold. This is what was used by the industrail factories in the early 1900's for fire control. This was attached to a large metal door. If there was a fire. A piece of lead melted on the cable that held this. The weight fell and the door slammed shut, thus containing the fire so it would not spread as fast to other rooms in the factory.

Box is obviously tattered from age& storage. It looks like it was used somewhat sparingly and is in nice overall shape and would clean up nicely. Small marks& wear. Red crinkle-finish paint is still nice& bright. No keys came with this set and though it looks mostly complete. It comes only with what's shown. I'm told a set of keys can be easily made by a local locksmith since these are(formerly) well known municipal-required locksets and several companies(including BEST Lock Co) made these locks to identical specifications to meet government/code regulations. So the lock type is supposed to be well-known. ... moreThough yellowed& torn, this also comes with original paperwork& diagrams& parts lists& instructions. The 2nd spare glass came already broken but will still be included. This lock was in storage for many years. This is another cool unusual item our team found. This is an old bell that appears to be nickle plated brass but we could not be sure without scratching item and we surely wouldn't do that. Bell is 5 1/2" wide at widest point and 3 1/2 at its narrowest spot and about 5 1/2" tall. Wood mount is about 5 1/2" x 11" about 1/2" thick. Item has not been tested and is being sold as is for parts or restoration. Item is heavy weighing over 7 lbs. This is just another great item that I wish I could see work after some expert TLC. Nice vintage electric bell. I hooked it to 2"D" batteries and the striker would jump when the contacts were moved so I know it is not frozen and some current will go through. I can not say how it will work if hooked to electricity. The striker moves and all seems well but I must sell it as-is. Up for sale is a brass San Francisco Fire House stamped brass plate. I do not know the history of this plate but it appears to be very old. It looks like a door push plate that would be nailed to a swinging door. It has 4 small pin nail holes in each corner where it would have been attached. It has great patina but could be easily cleaned up if you wanted to. It has a picture of an old horse driven steam engine and other firefighting items on it. There is a lot of detail on this and would make a great wall hanger or door plate. Vintage FDNY Fire Alarm Call Box Door
Vintage Fire Alarm Call box door. Appears to be cast iron and brass. 9 1/4 wide x 12 3/4 long x 4" overall deep. Weighs approx 10 pounds. This was most likely from your typical fire pedestal call box located around the city of New York. Over the years the housing of the pedestals remained but the face and interiors were replaced with modern and efficient communication equipment. It is unknown if this ever had a lift guard. Doesnt appear to have as it would have blocked the verbage on top. This one is a little different with the key hole on top, no key, and not in the middle of the door. The hinges are intact but the ends are broken off. The door is down to the bare metal with remnants of it being red at one time. The mechanism, springs work but the stopper for the pull handle is half missing. This is being described to the best of my ... moreability and being sold as is.
