The door is made of solid, old pine and is painted on both sides. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. Offered is this vintage/antique hanging medicine cabinet with a Mission-style or Arts& Crafts look. It has an oak door with frosted glass and a ceramic pull. The cabinet itself is probably pine. The shelves inside have been painted white. The cabinet is 20” high. 16” wide and 8” deep. The door is in very good condition. The cabinet body is in good condition. There are some scratches and wear to the finish. The pull may be a replacement but the hinges and glass look original. The back is drilled with four holes so the cabinet can be hung with the door opening either way. It could even be hung horizontally with the door lifting up. The door is made of solid pine, has 1 glass and 3 raised panels. The applied molding on the door is just too beautiful. The glass lite installed is actually plexiglass. Unfortunately. We don't have any old glass this size, however, we could order a new glass lite(i.e. beveled. Tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install it- email us for a quote. With the exception of 1 or 2 doors, which are either white pine or Fir; the doors are made of solid heart pine and each have 5 raised panels. Please note that heart pine is the non-living. Core of a pine tree, and not the soft, outer, living sap-wood. Since it takes 30 years for a pine tree just to develop just 1” of heart stock it is rarer. Harder, more durable, more insect& ... morerot resistant, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and is much more valuable than the cheap, pine lumber that is commonly found at most hardware stores.
