This is an amazing Japanese/Kwantung army railroad guard badge that's made of pure silver. This is the best one I have ever seen. Look at the photo carefully as this is detailed and full of important info. The front of the badge is decorated with the Japanese Independent Guard Battalion symbol(note the rail is in gold gilt) A Japanese religious Shinto shrine with an army star on it, and railroad line. The kanji reads YASUTOSHI in Japanese, not sure of the Chinese reading, but it was the name of the main rail station on a 284 kilometer stretch of track that went from 寧年 to 拉哈. The reverse side reads DOKU HO 18 DAI 3 CHUUTAI(Independent 18th Infantry Regiment 3rd Company) 2596(1936) and JUNGIN(Pure Silver) This badge was probably made to commemorate their time in Manchuria, because in 1936 they returned to Japan: In May 1928. London, this booklet was No.2 in their series' Know Your Weapons' It is a first edition published in December 1941, he other two titles in the series being' Tommy Gun, Rifle and Bayonet and Anti-Tank Waepons' It is probable that this was issued to both Army Conscripts and the Home Guard. It was a book for the novice by Capt. G. Jacklin and Derek Whipp, the former being a small arms instructor to the Cripplegate Institute where his duties included instruction for the Home Guard. The text is plain and simple, the diagrams are clear; they include dismantling of the gun etc. but use is also dealt with eg. The gunners fingers must see better than their eyes- capable of use by night as well as by day; the gun should be fired in short bursts so as not to disclose its position- AND don't let ... morerip haphazardly! The book has card covers measuring 12cms x 18cms(43/4" x 71/8" It is in good condition after 70 years, has a neat repair to the centre including staples- no text or diagrams affected- see our photo) plus slight creasing to the front cover, lower right hand corner.

Up for auction is a rare large and heavy Reed& Barton U.S. Coast Guard silver soldered silverplate compote or serving bowl. This large U.S. Coast Guard bowl has"Reed& Barton" and"Silver Soldered" and"3510" and large"U.S.C.G. letters imprinted on the bottom of the bowl. There is also a parachute symbol stamped above the"Reed& Barton. It is in beautiful used condition. This compote bowl measures 10 inches across and is about 5 inches high. And is very heavy. U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Boat, the author and desinger is Sam Rabl, I have the orginal papers with the design and the designer testing the boats, During the Cold War years of the mid-50's several aircraft and ship models were permanently pulled from distribution in the interest of national defense. One of these was the now famous 95-foot patrol boat which was the U.S. Coast Guard's answer to the threat from atom bomb smugglers and waterfront saboteurs. Every kit was destroyed that was pulled. Up for auction is an early milled M1 Garand trigger guard. It is the C-46025-3-SA revision that was used early in WW2. This 3SA version is much rarer than the 1SA version and is much less commonly seen for sale. The finish is excellent and there is hardly any wear to the locking lug. There is also an inspector mark"T" inside. Which is pictured. I had this on a Garand of mine and the lockup was really tight. This ships anywhere in the US for $2.

Measuring 23.3. mm in size and backmarked"R& W Robinson Extra Rich" R& W Robinson was one of the major producers of military buttons during the Civil War It is circa 1861-65,and matches several photo/written depictions on button references both on-line and on hard copy. The finish is nice for a 150 year old button with a few rubs on it. Most of these Pennsylvania militia/Civil War buttons sell for 150 to 300 dollars but I am starting bids at a low point, since I would like this piece to go to someone who will appreciate it for years, as I have. Iron Pommel& Knuckle Guard. Blade is 35-1/2" long. Leather handle wrapped with brass wire. Blade is bright with some light staining with no pitting. Seven very tiny nicks on blade. Pommel& Knuckle Guard have a nice brown patina. The scabbard is iron with two small dings and a patina finish. This is a German import of The Tiffany& Company style sword with no markings.
