This meter is the oldest gas meter I have ever seen. The top is cast with the following information:Toby Meter Metric Meter Co. Erie Pa. No I 300 ft(possibly 800) Patented Dec 13-92 The dial has a small attached tag marked Ohio Gas Co. M-00668. The gauge case is stamped 334973. The three body panels are marked 502-M4. The meter is 17" tall including base and gauge. The meter body is approximately 13" in diameter. The meter needs to be cleaned. There is no structural damage. No cracks or warping of the cast iron parts. The porcelain dial is free of damage. You can find more information on this meter by doing a patent search. The patent number is 487907. Nice vintage cast brass water meter. This is shorter than other ones I have seen. 7" high. It does have some paint spatters on it. Great for display item or door stop. Can also be made into a clock. Some have removed the top from these and made them into small boxes with the hinged lid. Some surface dirt that can be removed. The bottom is cast iron with some surface rust but will clean up.
