While the base is roughly 2-7/8" in diameter. A metal plate has been added to the bottom and covered in green felt on both sides. The piece can now be used for display or to hold tiny treasures. VINTAGE HERSEY-SPARLING WATER METER GAUGE IN EXCELLENT OPERATING CONDITION WHITE ENAMEL DIAL This is a clean gauge that looks like it was never used. It measures 3.3” diameter x 2” high. The dial is clean white enamel. There is no rust anywhere on the dial. Numbers, or needle. The case is bronze and has just a little greeish spots on the top cover and on the side. There are no dents anywhere. The dial needle rotates and the numbers change smoothly when you turn the little pin in the reverse of the case. The thick glass cover is original. I have not taken this unit apart so I don’t know what the inside looks like. There are no numbers anywhere on the outside case. It is mounted on a stained pine wood plaque. Please ask questions. This is a clean Hersey Water Meter from Deedham Massachusetts! I can't tell you its history. But it looks as though it's barely been used. The only damage I can see is the latch on the cover has been broken(see photo) The meter measures about 5 square inches and each pipe extension(in and out fittings) are about an inch and a half. Making it 8 inches from top to bottom. I have calculated the shipping using USPS Priority shipping based on a 8 pound package to account for the 6+ pound meter and related packing materials.
