Free Shipping Condition: New – Open box Location: South Bend, United States Offered is a vintage heavy brass Badger Meter Corporation water meter housing. There is no meter. As far as I can understand the patent information. The ... moremeter registered flow by use of magnets, and the housing appears to be all original– just missing the meter part. I believe this has been used since it has an identifying number stamped on the lid. It has been most recently used as an ashtray. The patent dates for this are 1962 and 1964. The housing is 2 ½ inches tall. 3 ½ inches in diameter at the top(4 ½ inches across the hinge and opening tab) and 3 inches in diameter at the base. It weighs over 15 ounces. The exterior brass is about 1/16 inch thick, and the interior of the base appears to be molded copper. There is a set screw near the bottom. This housing is in very good condition. With a nice warm patina. The only issue is a little verdigris on the bottom of the copper base. Please refer to photos to judge condition for yourself. Questions and information are welcome. Vintage Brass Water Meter Cap - Hersey - Dedham, MA - Converted to Container
Nifty old brass water meter cap that has been converted into a covered box by the Backwords Company of Missouri(tag attached) The cap measures roughly 1-1/4" tall. The lid is about 3" in diameter. While the base is roughly 2-7/8" in diameter. A metal plate has been added to the bottom and covered in green felt on both sides. The piece can now be used for display or to hold tiny treasures. The inside rim of the cap's base has a fabulous turquoise patina. There is also some surface rust. Both give evidence to the age of the item. The lid has the manufacturer's name, Hersey, as well as Dedham, Massachusetts. A real piece of history! Sale is final so please ask any questions you may have before you bid. Vintage Porcelain and Copper Water Meter Face with a moving dial. Brass gears and numbered gears! Made by the Neptune Meter Company of New York. It is a Trident model and measured cubic feet. The face is made of white porcelain with an underlying layer of copper which allowed the porcelain to adhere. The rest of the dial is made of brass. Including the small gears that turned the dial and numbers. The dial will turn when the gear on the bottom of the meter face is manually rotated! The porcelain face is beautiful but does have some of the porcelain missing.but the copper shows through and gives it some additional character. There are also some surface cracks and the porcelain face is loose as it sits on the brass base plate. There is a nail/ screw head which is a little loose that may tighten that face down. Nice old brass or bronze Trident 5/8 split-case water meter by Neptune Meter Co. Measures about 6-1/4" tall x about 5" diameter at the base. 7-1/2" from end of the threaded inlet to end of the threaded outlet. The lid measures about 3" in diameter& the glass underneath that covers the face, about 2-3/8" in diameter. The unit weighs about 10-1/2 pounds. This is a used unit& it has not been tested by us, but it looks to be in really good condition& it has a nice patina. The top of the lid is marked. Neptune Meter Co" Trident" New York" with a trident in between the word"New" the word"York" It's also marked with serial number"19288770" The base of the case is marked, 5/8 Split Case" IN" on the threaded inlet& OUT" on the outlet. It's ... morealso marked with identical serial number"19288770" The hinged lid covers a dial under glass, or it might be plastic, I can't say for sure. The glass/plastic has some surface scratches. The dial is white with black markings& the needle is black. The gauge measures in cubic feet& the counter currently reads"95296" Untested& sold AS-IS. Please click the images for a closer look. Just in from the barn today! Here I have an ORIGINAL/ INTACT Brass meter from the Pittsburgh Meter Company. The Pittsburgh meter company was formed by George Westinghouse in 1886. The top of this meter reads" KEYSTONE" I am not sure if that is the model name or not. Inside the cover are 2 patent dates. The last being March 8, 1910. The glass is intact and in rather good shape. The inner gasket underneath the glass has disintegrated, so it is" floating" around under the glass. Early meters like this one are harder to find as so many were melted down for the war effort.
