This offering is for an old Gas Meter. The outer housing is tin so I would suspect that not a lot of these are still around. Great for the Steam Punk movement of repurposed industrial items. I can imagine this as a fantastic lamp base. The two male threaded fittings out the top which is the gas inlet and outlet appears to be the same size as water hose connectors. It stands about 16" tall overall and 7 X 12" It weighs about 13# all by itself so the weight would be right for a lamp base. The name plate reads METRIC METAL COMPANY LIGHT METER ERIE PA Its clean enough to leave as it or a bit of steel wool to prep and clear or paint as suits you. Its too big for a flat rate box so lets not even go there. LOL. Vintage American Meter Company ELSA Corrector System Natural Gas Meter Measure
This is something I don't know much about. Hope the pictures will explain to you what this is. In my research I found it is a meter or measuring device for natural gas. It appears that the batteries are not charged I'm not sure if they're rechargeable. It also looks like the last time it was calibrated was 1990. This comes with all the instructions Tools and key and comes in a very nice aluminum carry case. Came out of a house we are renovating and discovered the gas had been cut off at the street because the house sat vacant for a while. PECO had decided to run a new gas line and make a new connection and install a new meter outside of the home. This meter was in the basement and appears to be a newer-type of meter.

Nash No.1 Natural Gas Meter for National Meter Co.
Being offered is a rare Nash No. 1 natural gas meter This meter was manufactured by the National Meter Co. of New York. USA. Patent#715398. This piece was designed by Lewis H. Nash who went on to found the Nash Engineering Company. In South Norwalk, CT. He was also the holder of over 100 United States Patents for pumps, engines and other equipment. He was also a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives. This meter stands 4 1/4 inches tall. 3 1/2 inches deep, 3 1/2 inches wide, and weighs 2 lbs and 2.4 oz. The housing and door are made of cast brass. With a glass viewing window. The internals all appear to be machined out of brass as well. The red paint is a little worn off. There is some oxidation of brass inside. But this does not take away from the funtionality of it. All lettering is legible, and each wheel spins freely. Included ... morealso is a drive gear. This would be a great find for someone in the natural gas industry as most of these went to scrap over the years. It would make a great lamp. Clock or display piece, or even part of a streampunk display.
