Nice old brass or bronze Trident 5/8 split-case water meter by Neptune Meter Co. Measures about 6-1/4" tall x about 5" diameter at the base. 7-1/2" from end of the threaded inlet to end of the threaded outlet. The lid measures about 3" in diameter& the glass underneath that covers the face, about 2-3/8" in diameter. The unit weighs about 10-1/2 pounds. This is a used unit& it has not been tested by us, but it looks to be in really good condition& it has a nice patina. The top of the lid is marked. Neptune Meter Co" Trident" New York" with a trident in between the word"New" the word"York" It's also marked with serial number"19288770" The base of the case is marked, 5/8 Split Case" IN" on the threaded inlet& OUT" on the outlet. It's ... morealso marked with identical serial number"19288770" The hinged lid covers a dial under glass, or it might be plastic, I can't say for sure. The glass/plastic has some surface scratches. The dial is white with black markings& the needle is black. The gauge measures in cubic feet& the counter currently reads"95296" Untested& sold AS-IS. Please click the images for a closer look. Please note that all the images are of the same meter. In the same condition. The difference in color is a result of lighting, flash, etc. Some of the photos were taken indoors with a flash, under fluorescent lights& some were taken outdoors, in the shade on a bright sunny day. Vintage Water Meter Porcelain Face w/ Dial Gears Steampunk Trident Meter Co
Very Cool Vintage Brass Water Meter Face with Numbered Dials. Made by the Trident Meter Company of New York. It has a single One Cubic Foot measurement dial on the face. The dial and numbers do not currently move but may be coaxed back into movement with some cleaning and/ or oiling of the gears. The white face is made of porcelain with an under layer of copper used to adhere to the brass base. The face is a little loose and moves back and forth about 1/8" but is still firmly attached to the brass base via the pins. The face does have some porcelain missing and some surface cracks but the copper shows through giving it a great vintage look. All of the gears are still in place along with the original pins and gear on the bottom of the meter face. This is a really neat piece with several cool old parts! Please see the photos! 1940's-1972 Water Meter Paperweight Vintage water meter cover from 1940's-1972 converted to a paperweight or trinket box. Fabulous original heavy brass. The meter cover measures 2" tall x 3 1/2" across including hinge. The cover reads"Neptune Meter Co. Trident Water Meter New York" with"11828518" engraved in the center. Neptune produced water meters in New York from 1892-1972 until the company moved. This meter dates after 1940 when 6 million meters were sold and 1972 when the firm moved since this is in the 11 million range made in New York. The meter sits on a round wooden plinth that measures 7/8" tall x 4 1/4" across with a maroon felt pad underneath. The entire piece other than some dust is in great condition with very little rust on the inside likely from previous use. Vintage water meter casing from New York. Appears to be steel colored metal with a brass coating. Can be seen on base edge. Where paint has worn away or not completely painted over. Piece is about 2" tall. The flat base is slightly wider than the top lid- 3" Top is about 2 3/4" in diameter. Wear commensurating with age to patina. Being offered is a rare Nash No. 1 natural gas meter/recording index. This meter was manufactured by the National Meter Co. of New York. USA. Patent#715398. This piece was designed by Lewis H. Nash who went on to found the Nash Engineering Company. In South Norwalk, CT. He was also the holder of over 100 United States Patents for pumps, engines and other equipment. He was also a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives. This meter stands 4 1/4 inches tall. 3 1/2 inches deep, 3 1/2 inches wide, and weighs 2 lbs and 2.4 oz. The housing and door are made of cast brass. With a glass viewing window. The internals all appear to be machined out of brass as well. This piece contains the recording index only. And is driven by a small axl through the mounting plate. Drive gear is included. The red paint is a little worn off. There is some ... moreoxidation of brass inside. The cover has been retrofitted to mount on a solid Golden Oak base with an underside pivoting wood door cover exposing the battery. Lift up the top brass cap and underneath is a small quartz clock with second hand. The clock has been running successfully for over a month. But I did have a problem with the battery slipping and losing contact. Make sure the battery is secure. The possible steam engine. Steampunk or common water meter identification cap is heavy brass and measures 3” diameter. The desktop item measurements are 4 ¼” wide, 2 ½” height with cap closed, and 5” tall with the cap up. The cap underside has a small amount of paper residue; no cleaning of any type was performed. The pictures speak for themselves. Thrift store find! Stream Punk Junk! This thing screams industrial. Looks to be in great shape. Hoses look great, fittings look great, the meter it's great too, so in the box. The rubber hoses are clean and soft, lots of life there. The fittings are clean, little knicks or dents. The meter is clean, the needle bounces a little, so it's not stuck. The needle is a couple points above zero, it could go down when put in line, or it need calibration. Having never worked with this individual meter, I can't say. The box is very clean, no dust dirt or debris. Someone took good care of this device. I'll bet if I put this in line. It'll work.
