Onan CMQD 5500 Commercial Mobil Power Generator
Here is an Onan 5.5kW diesel generator. The unit has 7892.4 hours on it. I bought it from an employee of a government agency. He was a mechanic in charge of all of the support equipment. The unit has been fully maintained to government specifications. The oil filler tube had a hole worn into it from the frequent oil level check. Oil leaked all over the inside of the housing. The engine never ran dry and the tube was repaired. In true government fashion the unit was taken out of service and a new unit was purchased. I cleaned the unit changed the fluids. The unit runs great. It has the bullet proof Kubota two cylinder diesel engine. The unit is configured for 120V output. It can be re-wired for 120/240. I have a used MQ power 20kw generator on trailer that is no longer needed at our facility. It runs very good. You have to cut off the air(red lever) to turn off the motor. The electronic kill does not work to shut off the motor. Had to lubricate the actuator last time this happened. The 220 plugs work. One of the 110 plugs doesn't work. Needs a new receptacle installed. Nothing major. Tires are two years old and may have 20 miles on them. I start the unit up once every two to three months and let it run for about 4 hours. I also have the oil and filters changed once a year and no more then that since I don't put that many hours on the unit anymore. No oil leaks. Also has the additional 41 gallon fuel tank mounted on the belly of the trailer.
