This is a James G. Biddle Co"Megger" megohmmeter insulation tester. Estimated to be from the early 1980s, in working condition but without recent calibration. The tag on the back states that it is catalog#70147. But investigating the website(biddlemegger.com) I have determined that it appears to be the same as#21805 and a n owners manual is there to download. A hand cranked magneto supplies 500 volts through the leads and the readout is scaled from 0- 500 ohms(o hms side) and 0- infinity(megohms side) With a switch to set the reading. Leads and case are included. But the leather case is in rough shape, needed a re-stitch and general TLC. The leads are about 5 feet long an d in good condition. And the instrument its elf is clean. Heath EUA 20-12 This is a calibration and test unit for Heathkit pH meters. Made in limited quantities and only sold as completed units. Since they were used for calibrating other devices, I guess that the Heath factory took care to make this an accurate standard, so no hobbyist assembly. It can be seen in Heath's 1967 catalog, and in advertising to the chemical industry. It's a little dirty but in good physical condition, and came from the estate of a Polaroid engineer. I certainly have no way to test it or verify its operation or calibration, so it is sold as-is.

What we have here is an instrument to measure the apparent resistivity of the ground. There are many widely different arrangements and equipment available to do this. This device falls under the method known as Gish- Rooney after the pair who devised it in 1925. The measure of resistivity in the field of geophysics is one of the oldest methods. This meter was probably made in the late 1950's to early 1960's. The Gish-Rooney meter is similar to an instrument called a Megger which was developed primarily for the use of power and communications companies to test the grounds of power stations and transmission towers. The Gish-Rooney meter measures the current and voltage separately to obtain the apparent resistivity which is somewhat more accurate than the Megger and more suitable to geophysical surveys. Cole/Parmer Model 8213-20 Digital Tachometer w/ case
I did some research on this Tachometer and it is older. But not sure how old. It would cost about $200 to $400 dollars to buy one new like this one from Cole/Parmer now. It has no problems other then one of the little spinning wheels is gone, but it works great with the one with it. Also it needs a new(9 volt) Battery wire hook up. The wires are hooked up temporarily to show it works. It has a Red digital number read-out, that would reach in to the tens of thousands Rev's per minute. Black case and a padded black plastic carrying case. It does require 4-AA to operate. As you may see that I got it up to 686 rpm with my fingers. The black button works the meter, but the Red one, when pushed, holds the top rpm speed. It is just sitting around in my toolbox thought I should let someone else try it for awhile.
