Vintage 1950s to early 1960’s hard plastic pot jar bottle strainer sieve B& B Remembrance company of St. Paul. Minnesota U.S.A. 2. The hard plastic is sort of a jadeite jadite green. But then sort of a turquoise blue– On one side of the utensil embossed at the top is POT and JAR STRAINER. On the other side is: B and then some sort of logo B/ Remembrance/ St. Paul. Minnesota U.S.A. 2. Size: approx length of 11 inches; width of widest section in the middle approx 2 5/8ths inches. Condition: very good. No chips. No cracks. Embossing is strong an good. This strainer is old.I am unsure as to how old. But I can tell by the craftsmanship that it is very old. The wooden handle is secured to the metal by one small nail. The handle is fragile where it connects, but it is secure enough to hold onto. It is 9 inches long and 1 1/2 inches high. The diameter is 4 1/4 inches. It's an amazing piece of Americana. Antique Wire Mesh & Tin Footed Strainer w Handles 7"
Here is a useful kitchen collectible. Charming enough to hang on a hook or a wall. It is an old wire mesh strainer or colander, mounted on a thick wire ring that is the base. A wire ring also encircles the top, formed into handles on either side. The top is also reinforced with a tin ring about.75 inches wide. It is very solidly made. Measures about 7 inches in diameter by 4.5 inches high, and is in excellent condition, with a wonderful old patina. I note at the inner rim where the mesh meets the tin rim, there is 1 loose mesh wire hook, and a section about 1.5 inches long where the mesh is not attached to the rim. This is a most unusual piece that I just couldn't pass up at an estate sale. I question what to call it. I think diffuser because the top portion contains 6 small holes in the bottom. And whatever liquid drains would go into the bottom cup. The cups do not separate.single unit The maker was James W. Tufts of Boston. The Tufts trademark was registered in February of 1875 for plated silverware in Medford. MA. It was incorporated in 1881 and went out of business before 1915. I have not attempted to polish this piece, and the condition otherwise is quite good with shiny exterior. Interior shows some darkening spots, also did not try to clean. This lovely round berry pan does show lots of use and has chips and rust showing mainly on the outside rim. The inside of the pan and the underside bottom of the pan show some chips and rust also.
